primary purpose of the individual is to take complete ownership of all the SQL Server Database Administration within the organisation and provide with an efficient, functional and stable SQL Server database environment across multiple application on premise and in Azure.\nThe secondary purpose is to provide support to the business and technology departments in the use of MUFG Pension & Market Services SQL Server based systems and database tools and technologies.\nKey Accountabilities and main responsibilities\nStrategic Focus\nIdentify, own and deliver new initiatives in the team. \nDrive innovation using the new features in Database software. \nAssist with the transition to cloud from a Database perspective.\nIdentify, collect requirements, develop workflows to automate support processes. \nAnalyse, develop and implement process to secure, reduce downtime and optimise Database performance.\nOperational Management\nProvide administration Support to MUFG’s SQL Server Databases including:\nMaintaining and enhancing current procedures.\nUpgrading and patching SQL Server from earlier versions.\nBackup & Recovery of databases and process improvements. \nDatabase performance assessment and optimisation.\nImplement technologies related to Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping, Partitioning.\nMigration and data movement to Azure.\nRespond to and resolve database access and performance issues.\nWorking in the context of large (1TB+ databases) and associated performance challenges.\nSupporting metadata packages (SSIS), for reporting purposes.\nAssist in maintaining Data Quality and Data Integrity.\nEnsure adequate capacity for database growth.\nPlan and coordinate data migrations between systems.\nProvide recommendations on systems configuration and operational infrastructure as required by management.\nAdopt and apply best practice approaches for the operating environment.\nEnsure best value for money is obtained from third party vendors by evaluating software tools as required.\nEffective monitoring, system status alerts and escalation where appropriate.\nPerform project and system health checks.\nRaise change controls for defects as required.\nEvaluate software suitability and viability to determine its usefulness in addressing the needs of MUFG.\nPerformance tuning of databases, queries & reports.\nAllocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database systems.\nModifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers and the business. \nUser access creation, monitoring and maintenance of system security.\nBuild maintain SQL database pipelines in cloud.\nDocumentation of procedures and processes.\nImplement and Review Disaster Recovery strategy. \nGovernance & Risk\nHelp resolving Information Security Corrective actions.\nDevelop and Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures.\nRaising security issues and breaches to Manager.\nReport to Management of any issues that may impact the Business.\nMaintain awareness and champion ITIL best practices.\nAdhere to all MUFG’s standards, policies and procedures.\nThe above list of key accountabilities is not an exhaustive list and may change from time-to-time based on business needs.\nExperience & Personal Attributes\nExperience\nOverall 5+ Years with Minimum of 3+ years’ relevant experience working with large SQL Server Database\nSound knowledge of database architecture, integration issues, third party reporting and data extraction tools.\nHands on experience with Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory.\nKnowledge and understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)\nExperience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.\nExperience in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Analysis Services and SSIS.\nStructured programming methodology, data analysis and design skills - T-SQL & SQL Knowledge.\nExperience in implementing operational automation using scripts.\nKnowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.\nExperience with technical documentation and content management. \nExposure to business contingency standards and acceptable practices that comply with statutory and audit requirements.\nMicrosoft Certification is preferred - MCTS, MCITP. \nBroad knowledge or exposure to financial services/ banking/ accounting applications.\nExperience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.\nDatabase planning and scheduling experience.\nKnowledge of shell scripting (e.g. PowerShell) or any automation tools to make automation processes/dashboards.\nBasic knowledge of PowerBI reporting to support PowerBI gateway and dashboards.\nAbility to investigate, analyse, and resolve data-related issues in a timely and effective manner.\nPersonal Attributes\nStrong verbal and
