Within this, Client Services team focuses on end-user-facing technologies, covering Desktop Services, Application Delivery and Messaging & Collaboration.\nThis role leads the enterprise messaging and collaboration portfolio, with a mandate to deliver robust, secure, and user-centric platforms such as Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, and related services. The role is instrumental in enabling modern, compliant, and efficient communication and collaboration for thousands of users across 15+ EMEA locations.\nNUMBER OF DIRECT REPORTS\n· Zero direct reports\nMAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE\nThe Messaging and Collaboration SME will be responsible for the design, implementation, administration and optimisiation of enterprise messaging, collaboration, and mobile device management platforms. This includes Microsoft Exchange (on-premises and Online), Microsoft 365 (M365), Intune, and related technologies such as Teams, SharePoint Online, , Co-Pilot, Intune and Azure Active Directory.\nThis is an engineering and delivering focused role, providing technical leadership, project execution, and tier-3 escalation for complex issues. The SME will act as technical authority and trusted advisor to internal IT teams, driving modernisation initiatives, ensuring service reliability, and aligning collaboration solutions with business goals. \nAgility, customer centricity and creativity will be critical for the successful candidate to fit into the organization. The Messaging and Collaboration engineers performs a wide variety of evaluations, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure the messaging systems and infrastructure related equipment meets company and user satisfaction.\nThis combined with a large project pipeline, will allow someone with the right skills to have exposure to both BAU and project work. The environment is fast paced and allows huge exposure to the latest technologies, coupled with the ability to be involved with the planning, design and commissioning, of new and existing requirements.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\n1. Act as the technical lead for messaging, collaboration, and mobility project initiatives, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality standards.\n2. Lead and contribute to the design, engineering, and implementation of collaboration platforms, including Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Intune.\n3. Provide technical direction, planning, and execution oversight during solution design, migration, and modernisation projects.\n4. Work collaboratively with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication, delivery, and governance of technical initiatives.\n5. Design, implement, and maintain Exchange On-Prem and Exchange Online environments.\n6. Develop and manage hybrid configurations and migration strategies.\n7. Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Compliance Centre).\n8. Implement and maintain email security controls (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, anti-spam, DLP, ATP).\n9. Ensure service reliability, scalability, performance, and compliance across messaging and collaboration platforms.\n10. Provide Tier-3 support and act as as the escalation point for complex technical issues.\n11. Deliver engineering level implementation and solution delivery as part of transformation and operational programs.\n12. Maintain comprehensive documentation, system diagrams, and technical standards for continuity and governance.\n13. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on security, networking, and integration.\n14. Contribute to strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and continuous improvement goals.\nWORK EXPERIENCE\nWork Experience\nEssential;\nMinimum 5-10 years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, messaging, or collaboration roles.\nDemonstrated experience leading and delivering complex Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365 and Intune implementation and migration projects.\nProven track record in design, engineering, and supporting large-scale Exchange Hybrid and Microsoft 365 environments.\nExperience providing Tier-3 technical support, resolving escalated issues, and acting as the technical authority for messaging and collaboration platforms.\nStrong background in project planning, execution and stakeholder management with cross-functional teams.\nHands-on experience implementing security, compliance, and governance policies within Microsoft 365 (e.g. DLP, retention, conditional access).\nBeneficial;\nExperience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments (finance, government, healthcare)\nExposure to Microsoft Purview for compliance and data protection initiatives.\nInvolvement in Zero Trust, modern workplace, or Copilot readiness programs.\nFamiliarity with global enterprise or multi-tenant environments.\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nFunctional Competencies:\nEssential;\n· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills\n· Demonstrated leadership in incident, problem, and change management.\n· Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.\n· Strong documentation, process, and reporting capabilities.\nBeneficial;\nExperience leading enterprise level transformation projects.\nFamiliarity with ITIL or similar operational frameworks.\nExperience in vendor and third-party service management.\nKnowledge of user adoption and change enablement programs.\nTechnical Competencies:\nEssential;\nExpert knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Compliance Centre.\nExpert knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server 2016/2019 administration and troubleshooting.\nExpert knowledge of Exchange Online and Hybrid Deployments, including coexistence, migrations and hybrid mail flow.\nHands-on expertise with Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager for device and application management (MDM/MAM)\nProficiency in Azure Active Directory, Conditional Access, and Identity Federation (ADFS, Azure AD Connect)\nAdvanced PowerShell scripting for automation, reporting, and administration.\nDeep understanding of email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, TLS) and anti-spam/anti-phishing controls.\nSolid knowledge of DNS, certificates, and network fundamentals related to messaging and collaboration.\nHands-on experience with Microsoft Team Voice, including Calling Plans Operator Connect, and Direct Routing.\nExperience with Teams compliance call recording solutions (e.g. Dubber, NTRX or similar vendors).\nUnderstanding of Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and PSTN integration.\nKnowledge of Teams Voice and Direct Routing solutions.\nBeneficial;\nExperience with Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.\nExperience with email security gateways such as Forcepoint, Clearswift and Proofpoint.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Purview for compliance, information protection, and data governance.\nUnderstanding of Microsoft 365 Copilot integrations and readiness within Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint.\nUnderstanding of Zero Trust architecture and Microsoft 365 Security Baselines.\nExperience in SharePoint governance, lifecycle management, and automation.\nExperience working with third-party telephony, call recording, or regulatory compliance vendors.\nFamiliarity with telecom migration testing, user readiness, and go-live support.\nEducation / Qualifications:\nEssential;\nDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.\nRelevant Microsoft certifications, such as:MS-102 -
