# Sr. Optical Engineer

A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Senior Optical Engineer at Spectra-Physics, Lasers Business Unit of MKS Inc, you will partner with Multi-disciplinary Internal Teams to contribute to the development of platform extensions and improvement of optical designs of free-space and fiber-based laser systems. In this role, you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, R&D. You Will Make an Impact By: Design and engineer laser modules and systems for performance, cost, and reliability to solve our customers most pressing challenges. Define experimentation and modeling strategies, build, test and troubleshoot laser systems, create reports and design documentation, and transfer designs to production. Interact with Electrical, Mechanical, Software and Manufacturing Engineers to drive design activities, performance and reliability evaluation, and systematic problem-solving. Travel Requirements: Up to 10% of Travel may be required. Skills You Bring: Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree and 5 years of industry experience or Master's degree and 2 years of industry experience. Experience designing and building optical systems and free-space beam alignment of laser oscillators or amplifiers
