This role is ideal for a candidate who combines strong law firm training with practical in-house experience and enjoys being a hands-on partner to the business.\nThe Senior Counsel will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and cross-functional leaders to support commercial transactions, project development, operations, corporate matters, compliance, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing legal risk with business objectives and can operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as a trusted legal advisor to business leaders across development, operations, finance, and commercial teams\nDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:\nFeedstock supply agreements\nRNG and environmental attribute offtake agreements\nEPC and construction-related agreements\nOperations and maintenance agreements\nNDAs, vendor agreements, consulting agreements, and other commercial contracts\n\nSupport acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, and integration activities, including due diligence and transaction support\nAssist with legal matters throughout the RNG project lifecycle, from development through operations\nAdvise on regulatory and compliance matters related to renewable energy, environmental regulations, and low-carbon fuel programs\nHelp manage permitting, environmental compliance, and interactions with outside regulatory counsel\nSupport corporate governance, entity management, and internal policy development\nAssist in managing litigation, disputes, and claims with outside counsel\nPartner cross-functionally to identify and mitigate legal and business risks\nHelp build scalable legal processes and support a culture of compliance and ethical business practices\nManage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment\nQualifications\nJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school\nActive license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction\nApproximately 7-15 years of legal experience\nCombination of large law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred\nStrong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial agreements\nExperience supporting energy, infrastructure, industrial, or renewable energy businesses preferred\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills\nExperience\nFamiliarity with renewable natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, or broader energy markets\nBackground in renewable fuel programs, environmental commodities, or carbon markets (RFS, RINs, LCFS, 45Z. etc.)\nExperience supporting M&A, project development, or project finance transactions\nComfortable operating in a fast-paced growing environment where versatility and initiative are valued\nWork Environment\nHybrid office environment based in Houston, TX\nCollaborative, fast-paced, growth-oriented
