You will be responsible for building and converting pipeline, structuring complex partnerships, and delivering revenue end-to-end - from first engagement through to go-live and ramp.\nThis role requires someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and commercially rigorous, with the ability to operate independently and drive momentum across complex, long-cycle deals.\nWhy this role\nThis is an opportunity to own and scale two high-potential markets, working on complex cross-border payment solutions with leading financial institutions - while building the infrastructure that’s reshaping how money moves globally.\nYou’ll be working on real problems that impact customers at scale, partnering with some of the most important players in the ecosystem, and operating in a team that values ownership, speed, and high standards.\nThe role offers:\nEnd-to-end ownership of markets and deals\n\nExposure to top-tier banks and PSPs across Southeast Asia\n\nThe opportunity to work on complex, high-impact problems, not transactional sales\n\nA chance to shape how Wise grows its global payments infrastructure\n\nA high-performing, low-ego team with strong commercial standards\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn business development across Japan end-to-end\n\nBuild high-quality, qualified pipeline and actively manage it with clear prioritisation\n\nOriginate, structure, and close complex partnerships with banks and PSPs\n\nDrive deals forward with clear next steps, risk identification, and execution plans\n\nWork cross-functionally to design and deliver partner solutions\n\nStay closely involved post-signing to ensure successful launch and revenue ramp\n\nDevelop a deep understanding of your markets and build a clear strategy to win\n\nBring structured thinking to forecasting, pipeline management, and deal execution\n\nQualifications\nWhat We’re Looking For\nStrong experience in business development or partnerships within payments or financial services\n\nExperience selling cross-border payments, APIs, or infrastructure solutions is highly preferred\n\nProven track record of owning and closing complex deals with banks or financial institutions\n\nHighly driven and self-directed, with the ability to operate in ambiguity\n\nDetail-oriented and hands-on, comfortable going deep into product, operational, and regulatory topics\n\nStrong commercial judgment and pipeline discipline\n\nSolution-oriented mindset - able to unblock deals and move them forward\n\nCurious and proactive, with a strong desire to understand markets deeply\n\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills\n\nStrong proficiency in Japanese (written and spoken), as the role requires regular communication, collaboration, and complex deal structuring with corporate clients, top-tier banks, and financial institutions based in Japan\n\nAdditional Information\nBased in: Singapore or Japan (open to relocation)\n\nRegional scope: Japan (Handling Japan-based accounts and market expansion)\n\nFor everyone, everywhere.
