You’ll help design, deploy and operate the infrastructure that makes this possible.\nThis is a hands-on devops role with strong ownership over infrastructure architecture and platform automation.\nABOUT THE ROLE\nThis role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, platform engineering and security. You’ll define how Modern Treasury scales and operates our infrastructure, and guide teams toward cohesive architectural patterns.\nYou will set direction and build for infrastructure systems that support:\nMulti-rail money movement\n\nReal-time payment flows\n\nLedger-backed transaction processing\n\nHigh-availability payment orchestration\n\nThis is a staff individual contributor role with broad influence across Product, Platform, and Infrastructure teams.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nLead architecture for AWS infrastructure, container orchestration, and CI/CD to support scalable payment systems\n\nStandardize automation and infrastructure-as-code to provision, scale, and operate high-volume ledger and transaction platforms\n\nReduce operational overhead through tooling, streamlined workflows, and engineering standards uplift\n\nOptimize performance, reliability, and observability across real-time and rails-specific infrastructure\n\nDefine service ownership and operational models, aligning platform and product teams on scalable rail architecture\n\nContribute to infrastructure and security strategy for new payment rails, including FBO structures, stablecoin integrations, and compliance-focused features\n\nWHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE\nRequired\n8+ years in Devops, or infrastructure engineering\n\nStrong track record of setting technical direction without direct authority\n\nExperience building internal platforms that abstract complexity away from product teams\n\nStrong experience with:\nDesigning and operating distributed systems\n\nAWS infrastructure at scale\n\nInfrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)\n\nCI/CD systems and automation pipelines\n\nContainerized environments (Docker)\n\nObservability and performance tuning for production systems\n\nExperience with application and product security\n\nExperience scaling systems that process high-volume workloads\n\nExperience defining reliability standards and operational maturity models\n\nWhat Sets You Apart\nExperience architecting infrastructure for multiple payment rails simultaneously\n\nExperience scaling systems that process high-volume financial or transactional workloads\n\nUnderstanding of payment rail mechanics (ACH, wires, RTP, cards, etc.)\n\nFamiliarity with security and risk standards for money movement\n\nAbility to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term infrastructure strategy\n\nTECHNOLOGIES WE USE\nRuby on Rails for our backend\n\nReact, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS on the front end\n\nPostgres for our database\n\nAWS for infrastructure and hosting\n\nDocker for containerization\n\nGitHub for source code management\n\nBuildkite for continuous integration\n\nABOUT MODERN TREASURY\nModern Treasury provides trusted infrastructure for money movement.
