The new team member will be part of our Platform Engineering Team, responsible for operating, governing, securing, and continuously improving the Databricks platform. The role focuses on platform reliability, governance, automation, observability, and enablement of engineering teams, rather than building ETL pipelines or implementing business-specific data transformations.\nMain Responsibilities\nOperate, govern, secure, and continuously improve the Azure Databricks platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.\n\nManage Databricks workspaces, environments, account-level settings, identities, and platform access controls.\n\nAdminister Unity Catalog, including data access governance, permission management, and platform compliance standards.\n\nDefine, maintain, and enforce cluster policies, compute governance standards, and recommended platform usage patterns.\n\nMonitor platform health, performance, reliability, consumption, and operational KPIs using observability and monitoring tools.\n\nManage platform incidents, perform root cause analysis, drive preventive actions, and contribute to service reliability objectives (SLOs).\n\nCollaborate closely with Platform Engineers, Azure DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Operations Experts to provide a secure, reliable, and scalable platform foundation.\n\nContribute to infrastructure automation, CI/CD processes, Infrastructure-as-Code implementations, and platform lifecycle management.\n\nSupport engineering teams by providing technical guidance on platform capabilities, governance, security, performance optimization, and best practices.\n\nDrive platform cost optimization initiatives and contribute to FinOps practices through monitoring, analysis, and usage optimization.\n\nCreate and maintain platform documentation, operational procedures, standards, and engineering best practices.\n\nEvaluate, test, and introduce new Databricks capabilities and platform features in line with the platform roadmap and evolving business needs.\n\nFollow agile ways of working and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Platform Engineering practice.\n\nAbout Your Experience and Skills\nEducation\nUniversity or college degree with specialization in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.\n\nCertifications in database management or cloud computing are a plus.\n\nExperience\n2+ years of experience operating, supporting, or administering Databricks platforms in production environments.\n\n2+ years of AWS/Azure PaaS preferred.\n\n2+ years of automation frameworks such as Terraform preferred.\n\nRetail IT domain background is a plus.\n\nProfessional and Technical Competencies\nStrong understanding of of data platform architecture, governance, and cloud-based data processing concepts.\n\nHands-on experience with Azure Databricks administration, configuration, and platform operations\n\nFamiliarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS and Azure.\n\nFamiliarity with Azure services commonly used alongside Databricks (e.g., ADLS, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, Azure DevOps).\n\nUnderstanding of data platform, workflow orchestration, and CI/CD concepts.\n\nKnowledge of access management, platform governance, Unity Catalog, or cloud security concepts is an advantage.\n\nExperience with big data technologies and real-time data processing is a plus\n\nPython and Bash for scripting and automation\n\nPractical experience generating process documentation and reports.\n\nProfessional usage of Microsoft Office Suite.\n\nExperience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.\n\nExperience in working with agile methodology and following the best practices of the digital engineering team.\n\nSoft Skills\nStronganalytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.\n\nCollaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements.\n\nProven ability to meet
