Help us deploy it.\nEnergy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.\nThe world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.\nNow is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.\nWe were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.\nNow is the moment. Join us.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer to help ensure the long-term reliability, durability, and performance of Moment Energy's battery energy storage systems (BESS). In this role, you will develop reliability models, translate field and simulated operating conditions into mission profiles, and help predict product life and identify potential failure mechanisms. You will also support failure analysis investigations and prepare technical reliability reports that demonstrate product performance to our customers.\nThis is an opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of our reliability engineering practices as we scale our second-life battery technology. You will work closely with engineering, testing, and product development teams to turn operating data into actionable engineering insights and help improve confidence in our products.\nResponsibilities and Duties\nDevelop and apply reliability methodologies to assess product durability, expected service life, and performance across Moment Energy's battery energy storage systems.\nDerive mission profiles using available field data, operating conditions, environmental exposure, and system usage patterns. Develop simulation-based approaches when sufficient field data is unavailable.\nContribute to damage models based on mission profiles, expected failure mechanisms, component characteristics, and anticipated operating conditions to evaluate degradation and estimate useful life.\nTranslate real-world mission profiles into appropriate accelerated test conditions that expose potential failure mechanisms and predict degradation without introducing unrealistic failure modes through excessive stress.\nSupport Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and other reliability assessments to identify risks, prioritize failure modes, and recommend design improvements throughout product development.\nHelp guide technical discussions and investigations into product and component failures, particularly when the root cause is not immediately apparent. Recommend systematic, non-destructive investigative methods before progressing to more intrusive testing or destructive analysis.\nAnalyze field performance, test results, and observed failure trends to help identify root causes, contributing factors, and opportunities to improve product reliability.\nPrepare Customer Reliability Reports: Prepare technical documentation and reliability reports that communicate product performance, expected service life, testing results, assumptions, and supporting evidence to customers.\nWork closely with electrical, mechanical, battery, systems, and test engineering teams to incorporate reliability considerations into design decisions, validation plans, and product improvements.\nHelp develop and improve reliability methods, analysis tools, documentation, and processes that can scale with Moment Energy's expanding product portfolio and manufacturing operations.\nUse field feedback, test results, and failure investigations to recommend design changes and help prevent recurring issues across our products.\nThe Candidate\nWe’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Candidates with a Mechanical Engineering background may be considered if they have demonstrated strength in electrical reliability.\n3+ years of experience in reliability engineering, product reliability, design validation, or a closely related engineering field.\nExperience developing mission profiles from field data, operating conditions, and/or simulation-based approaches.\nFamiliarity with reliability models, damage models, degradation assessments, or useful-life predictions for electrical or electromechanical products.\nUnderstanding of electrical failure mechanisms, component degradation, and the relationship between operating conditions, environmental exposure, and product life.\nExperience developing or supporting accelerated life and reliability testing approaches that reflect realistic operating conditions.\nFamiliarity with DFMEA, reliability risk assessments, or other structured engineering methodologies.\nAbility to investigate failures systematically and identify appropriate non-destructive methods to help determine potential causes.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret engineering data and develop evidence-based conclusions.\nStrong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear engineering reports.\nA collaborative, self-directed approach and a willingness to learn, share knowledge, and work across multiple engineering disciplines.\nNice-to-Have Experience:\nExperience with lithium-ion batteries, battery management systems (BMS), battery packs, or battery energy storage systems.\nExperience with products deployed in demanding environmental conditions or climates comparable to those expected for Moment Energy's systems.\nFamiliarity with thermal, electrical, mechanical, and environmental stressors affecting long-term battery system performance.\nExperience with field reliability data, degradation trends, statistical reliability analysis, and predictive modeling.\nFamiliarity with reliability testing and safety standards relevant to batteries and energy storage systems, such as UL 1973 and UL 9540.\nExperience working with industrial products throughout design, validation, certification, manufacturing, and field deployment.\nFamiliarity with failure analysis techniques such as electrical characterization, thermography, microscopy, or other non-destructive inspection methods.\nExperience developing customer-facing technical documentation for industrial products.\nWhy join us?\nToday, we’re delivering 5x the energy density and have all the certifications needed to ship energy independence to the world.\nBe part of a mission-driven company focused on creating sustainable energy solutions and making a positive impact on the world.\nCollaborate closely with passionate co-founders and a team committed to innovation and excellence.\nContribute to building and scaling a company from the ground up, where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact.\nThrive in a workplace that values collaboration, wellness, and celebrating successes, with regular company socials, fitness sessions, and more.\nWe're a fast-paced and dynamic team.\nEvery day you'll be taking on a new challenge and learning something new.
