The Senior Platform Engineer works within the architectural direction established by the Senior Platform Engineering Lead and is responsible for translating platform architecture into working platform products and services.\nThe role combines platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE and automation skills.\nRequirements\nBachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline.\n10+ years experience across software engineering, cloud engineering or platform engineering.\n3+ years experience in a senior platform engineer role.\nExperience building and operating enterprise-scale cloud platforms.\nExperience defining platform standards and engineering guardrails\nDuties & Responsibilities\nPlatform Engineering and Automation\nDesign, build, configure and operate secure, reliable and reusable engineering platform capabilities.\nTranslate approved platform architecture and engineering standards into working platform products, automation and self-service\nservices.\nAutomate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment and operational activities using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices.\nDevelop reusable templates, modules and platform components that reduce duplication across engineering teams.\nDeveloper Platform and Experience\nBuild and maintain developer self-service capabilities, engineering templates, service catalogue integrations and golden paths.\nEnable engineering teams to provision environments and deploy applications with minimal dependence on central teams.\nWork directly with engineering teams to identify delivery friction and continuously improve the developer experience.\nMaintain clear technical documentation and usage guidance for platform capabilities.\nCI/CD and Software Delivery\nBuild and maintain standardised CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.\nEmbed automated testing, security scanning, quality controls and policy enforcement into engineering workflows.\nSupport safe deployment patterns, environment promotion, rollback and recovery.\nImprove the repeatability, speed and reliability of software delivery.\nCloud and Runtime Platforms\nEngineer and operate cloud, container and Kubernetes platform capabilities.\n Implement secure cloud foundations, networking, identity, access and environment configurations in line with approved architecture.\nMonitor platform capacity, performance, availability and cost, and implement improvements whererequired.\n\nMaintain platform components through upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.\nReliability, Observability and Security\nBuild observability into platform capabilities using standard logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards andalerts.\nDefine and implement platform service-level indicators and operational health measures.\nParticipate in incident response, root-cause analysis and the engineering of permanent corrective actions.\nEmbed security controls, secrets management, access controls and compliance guardrails into the platform by default.\nReduce recurring operational work through automation and engineering.\nTechnical Leadership and Collaboration\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to platform engineers and delivery teams.\nContribute to platform design decisions, technical reviews, engineering standards and the platformroadmap.\n\nCollaborate with Architecture, Software Engineering, Security and Production Management to ensureplatform capabilities are usable, supportable and aligned with organisational standards.\n\nEvaluate new platform technologies through practical prototyping and evidence-based recommendations.\nCompetencies\nSuccess will be measured through:\n Increased adoption of standard platform capabilities, reusable components and golden paths.\nReduced time to provision environments, onboard engineers and establish new application services.\nIncreased percentage of infrastructure,
