This role supervises and assists participants of all ages, plans engaging and enjoyable activities, and ensures that facilities and equipment are clean and safe for use.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nAvailable for Summer Camp, programs special events, and occasional nights and weekends.\n\nAssists with implementation of activities, including games, team sports, arts and crafts, music, and life skills.\n\nSets up equipment for participants' activities, such as tables, chairs, art supplies, sports gear, and games.\n\nEnsures participants’ safety.\n\nAssists with inventory of program supplies.\n\nParticipates, leads and trains children in activities and sports, providing guidance and coaching to participants.\n\nEnsures the Team Leader is updated verbally, or in writing, on all activities and is kept informed of any related issues.\n\nEnsures safe and sanitary conditions at all sites and reports to Team Leader any problems encountered.\n\nAssists with special events, concerts and other programs.\n\nPerforms general maintenance as needed (e.g., disposing of garbage, or keeping the facility clean).\n\nCommunicates effectively with the parents/guardians\n\nAssists with field trips and confirms the safety of children during transportation.\n\nOpens and closes facility and/or park.\n\nPerforms administrative tasks such as filing paperwork, answering phones, and tracking participant attendance.\n\nPerforms other related job duties as assigned.\n\nIn the event of special, emergency, or disaster situations, employee may be required to work schedules other than those for which they are regularly scheduled in any capacity deemed appropriate.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh school diploma/GED or enrolled in high school if under 18.\nSpecial Qualifications:\nMust be CPR and First Aid certified or must gain certification within 30 days of employment at County expense. Strong creativity, socialization skills, and proficiency in oral and written communication are desired for the role. A valid Florida Driver's License and a Level 2 Background Check are required.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nAbility to follow specific directions provided by supervisor and receive feedback.\n\nAbility to perform specific clerical or manual tasks; some typical responsibilities may include copying, maintaining files, or entering data OR utilizing light mechanical equipment such as a vehicle, lawn mower, or hand tool OR cleaning and maintaining a facility.\n\nAbility to follow specific procedures that may result in interaction with co-workers, citizens, or other individuals; ability to make decisions regarding own activities and priorities.\n\nAbility to work with less than ten co-workers who are mostly engaged in the same activities.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:\nBalancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.\n\nClimbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.\n\nCrawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.\n\nCrouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.\n\nFeeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.\n\nGrasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.\n\nHandling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.\n\nHearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.\n\nKneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.\n\nLifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
