Our security staff will provide a safe and secure environment with sound strategies to ensure all assets (people and property) are properly protected. An on-site Security Guard Level II is required to serve as part-time/on-call personnel in support of the NNSA.\nPlace of Performance / Hours of Operation\nSupport will be provided at the US DOE, NNSA. Continuous protective services will be provided in shifts, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.\nSummary of Responsibilities\nThe Security Guard Level II will be responsible for the following duties:\nPatrol buildings, property, and/or stand posts, oversee surveillance and alert/report to appropriate authority.\nDirect activities of personnel in adhering to security measures to comply with federal regulations.\nCarryout instructions to ensure emergencies and security violations are readily discovered and reported to appropriate authority.\nIntervene directly only in situations which require minimal action to safeguard property or persons.\nProtective Force (PF) Responsibilities\nProvide PF Services for non-security related emergency response, including response to the areas of fire alarms to assess the situation and support evacuations and other emergency duties as assigned.\nMonitor access activities from the alarm monitoring station using closed-circuit television (CCTV) and monitoring random inspections as directed and/or required.\nEnsure access to the facility is restricted to cleared and/or authorized individuals.\nProvide roving coverage of facility (including, but not limited to, interior/exterior of the building, classified repositories, boundaries, etc.).\nDetect and/or mitigate potential security and safety risks such as unlocked exterior doors, identification of suspicious packages, indications of unauthorized entry, unauthorized individuals within security areas, fire hazards within building.\nProvide incident reports and/or daily activity reports for any discrepancies noted.\nDevelop/implement inspection program to ensure prohibited articles are detected before being brought into the security areas and shall be knowledgeable of the controlled articles allowed.\nPerform random entry/exit inspections to deter introduction of unauthorized personnel, prohibited and controlled articles, and unauthorized removal of safeguards and security interests.\nEnsure all personnel hand-carried items, including packages, briefcases, purses, and lunch containers are subject to random entry/exit inspections to deter/detect unauthorized removal of classified matter.\nQualifications\nMust have a minimum of a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).\nMust meet all physical and medical qualifications and personnel must be fully capable of performing duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion.\nMust be fully capable of self-defense, tactical exercises, and weaponless defense.\nThe Security Guard Level II whose uncorrected distant vision in the better eye is less than 20/40 must carry an extra pair of eyeglasses or corrective lenses.\nSecurity\nEmployment is contingent upon the ability to pass the pre-employment drug test and a federal security investigation (background check) in order to obtain a Department of Energy \"Q\" clearance (prior to start date). The background investigation reviews employment, criminal, financial, and personal history to ensure there are no outstanding violations. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen to work in support of a federal agency.\nPersonnel must possess an active “Q” Security Clearance.
