This role demonstrates core and specific competencies based on care required for the pre/post operative patient population served for the Specialty Surgeons of Connecticut Practice. The RN will be scheduled on an hourly basis determined by the provided schedule, patient visits and follow up care required.\nEssential Functions\n1. Coordinates a plan of care for patients and families for pre and post operative visits.\n\n2. Documents and demonstrates teaching/learning needs of patients and families for pre and post operative visits.\n\n3 .Documentation reflects systematic and continuous collection of data.\n\n4. Documents all relevant case and patient information in EMR.\n\n5. Utilizes knowledge of nursing, research and evidenced based practice in the application of care and clinical judgment.\n\n6. Responds appropriately to urgent/emergent situations.\n\n7. Administers medication according to the medication administration policy.\n\n8. Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.\n\n9. Ensure compliance with written policies, procedures and standards of practice/care.\n\n10. Maintains licensure and current registration.\n\n11. Maintains mandatory certification, and competency including but not limited to annual review, BLS, etc.\n\nQualifications\nAssociate Degree in Nursing required\n\nBS in Nursing Preferred\n\nRegistered Professional Nurse New York State License and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN Upon Hire Required\n\nAt least 2 years of RN experience in the Emergency Department experience required\n\nAbility to use basic data entry and retrieval systems (Medium proficiency)\n\nEffective English communication skills, both written and oral (Medium proficiency)\n\nOHS Fit Test Required\n\nOHS Annual Assessment Required\n\nCertification in specialty Upon Hire Preferred\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) Training Upon Hire Required\n\nAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Training Upon Hire Required\n\nPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training Upon Hire Required\n\nInfection Control & Barrier Precaution Training Upon Hire Required\n\nMontefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
