We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Snowflake to manage, optimize, and support our enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of the Snowflake and AWS based SQL Server data platforms, with a strong focus on Snowflake advanced administration. This role will be responsible for administrating Montefiore’s AI-ready data Lakehouse in Snowflake that houses complex data solutions supporting Montefiore’s business functions. This role is also critical to scaling our data and insights capabilities, empowering teams with actionable insights, and supporting our mission to improve Patient healthcare.\nResponsibilities include:\nSnowflake Platform Administration\nAdminister and manage Snowflake enterprise environments (multi-account, multiregion).\nConfigure and manage virtual warehouses, resource monitors, roles, users, and access controls.\nPerform environment provisioning, cloning, replication, and lifecycle management.\nMonitor upgrades, feature enablement, and account-level configurations.\nOperational Excellence & Reliability\nEnsure 24/7 operational readiness and platform stability.\nImplement monitoring, alerting, and observability for performance, storage, and compute usage.\nEstablish operational runbooks, SOPs, and incident response processes. •Partner with Montefiore AWS cloud foundations team and data engineering teams to ensure platform SLAs and reliability targets are met.\nSupport root cause analysis and incident resolution for platform-related issues.\nDefine RTO/RPO objectives and ensure compliance with enterprise resiliency standards.\nConduct periodic failover testing and recovery drills.\nSecurity, Performance Optimization & Cost Management\nMonitor and tune query performance, warehouse sizing, clustering, and data organization.\nOptimize storage strategies including micro-partitioning and pruning.\nDrive cost optimization through warehouse right-sizing, auto-suspend/resume strategies, and usage analytics.\nProvide usage and performance reports as needed •Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC) and fine-grained access policies.\nSupport audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements.\nCollaborate with security teams to maintain enterprise data protection standards.\nStay current with Snowflake releases and emerging capabilities.\nRecommend improvements to enhance platform reliability, security, and performance.\nHelix Snowflake Lakehouse Data Integration & Ecosystem Support\nSupport data ingestion pipelines across disparate internal and external data sources primarily Epic Cogito stack.\nCollaborate with the Helix Data Engineering team to ensure optimal data loading and transformation patterns.\nSupport external tables and integration with AWS cloud storage.\nSupport enablement and operationalization of Snowflake Cortex AI capabilities.\nEnsure data readiness, governance, and security for AI-driven use cases.\nOptimize compute resources to support AI workloads.\nPartner with AI/ML teams to maintain a high-performance platform for model development and inference. Qualifications:\nRequired Qualifications include:\n12+ years of experience in database administration or data platform operations\n4+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration experience in enterprise environments.\nProven experience managing production-grade, highly available data platforms.\nExperience designing and implementing DR and business continuity strategies. • Solid experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.\nStrong knowledge of SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.\nExperience with security, compliance, and data governance best practices.\nExperience with AWS cloud platform is a plus\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.\nSnowflake Advanced Administration Certification\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n Experience in health systems database administration\nExperience in Epic Cogito stack administration\nExperience with Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps practices.\nCompetencies:\nAbility to think strategically and drive structured execution\nStructured, linear thinker that can conduct business outcome diagnostics and identify highest value business opportunities\nStrong facilitation skills to help business leaders identify their most important business questions\nExhibits excellent judgment, especially when working with ambiguity.\nSets stretch goals and works to exceed goals with a focus for results.\nHas the innate ability to gain the confidence of and build strong relationships with executives, peers, management and subordinates alike.\nExcellent business-facing presentation skill\nMontefiore Health System, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
