Those services can include hospital outpatient, surgical services, hospital and clinic professional services as well as procedures and any ancillary services. The coder will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD- 10 codes, CPT and HCPCS codes in accordance with Monument Health guidelines, Official coding guidelines and payor standards.Monument Health offers competitive wages and benefits on qualifying positions. Some of those benefits can include:\n*Supportive work culture\n*Medical, Vision and Dental Coverage\n*Retirement Plans, Health Savings Account, and Flexible Spending Account\n*Instant pay is available for qualifying positions\n*Paid Time Off Accrual Bank\n*Opportunities for growth and advancement\n*Tuition assistance/reimbursement\n*Excellent pay differentials on qualifying positions\n*Flexible scheduling\nJob Description\nEssential Functions:\nReview and abstract information in the medical record to accurately code for that episode of care.\nCode hospital and professional services by accurately assigning ICD-10, CPT and HCPSCS codes for appropriate billing.\nApply knowledge of medical science, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and the official coding guidelines to select the correct codes.\nMaintain an understanding and apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local and National Coverage Determinations (LCD, NCD’s), Medically unlikely edits (MUE’s) and Medicare guidelines.\nParticipate in coding education and training.\nProvide ongoing feedback to physicians and staff regarding coding guidelines and requirements.\nQuery providers for missing documentation.\nResolve payor edits and denials and respond to other teams including, compliance, revenue integrity and billing.\nNavigate and utilize encoder, grouper software and other coding resources.\nMaintain coding productivity and accuracy standards.\nAssist with patient audits. Obtains necessary information.\nAll other duties as assigned.\nAdditional Requirements\nRequired:\nEducation - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies\nPreferred:\nExperience - 1+ years of Coding Experience\nCertifications - Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA); Certified Professional Coder - Apprentice (CPC-A) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)\nPhysical Requirements:Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
