Moog has partnered with NASA to provide electronic solutions for the Artemis Orion Crew Capsule, Viper Lunar Rover, Satellite Laser Communications Relay, OSIRIS-REX to study asteroid composition along with complete satellite buses for the defense department.\nWe are seeking a talented Staff Power Electronics Engineer for our facility in Gilbert, AZ.\nRole Overview\nMoog Space & Defense Group develops high-reliability avionics, power distribution, onboard computing, and spacecraft electronics supporting NASA, civil space, and defense missions. We are seeking a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design of high-reliability power electronics for spacecraft and defense systems.\nThis is a senior individual contributor role responsible for architecting and delivering power conversion solutions while mentoring engineers and partnering across systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and program teams.\nWhat You'll Do\nArchitect and design high-reliability power electronics including DC-DC converters and related subsystems such as inverters, motor drives, or battery-management systems.\nPerform circuit design, simulation, component selection, schematic capture, and guide PCB layout, thermal, and EMI/EMC considerations.\nLead hardware bring-up, integration, debug, verification, and qualification activities.\nDevelop and review specifications, design reviews, test plans, and verification documentation.\nSolve complex technical issues using structured root-cause analysis.\nProvide technical mentorship and design guidance to less experienced engineers.\nCollaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.\nEnsure designs meet aerospace and defense reliability, environmental, and performance requirements.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.\n7+ years designing power electronics for aerospace, defense, industrial, or other high-reliability applications.\nStrong experience designing DC-DC power converters or closely related power conversion circuits.\nExperience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Cadence Allegro, Altium, or similar).\nExperience using simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad, or equivalent.\nStrong understanding of power semiconductor devices. MOSFET experience required; IGBT, SiC, and GaN experience is beneficial.\nExperience supporting hardware through the full product lifecycle from architecture through qualification and production.\nStrong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.\nExperience developing electronics for harsh-environment or space applications.\nExperience with radiation-tolerant or radiation-hardened electronics.\nExperience with motor control, reliability analysis (FMEA/MTBF), or system integration.\nExperience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews.\nWhy Join Moog?\nWork on mission-critical spacecraft and defense programs, influence technical direction as a Staff Engineer, collaborate with highly experienced multidisciplinary teams, and help develop the next generation of engineers.\nSalary Range Transparency:\nPhoenix, AZ $150,000.00-$200,000.00 AnnuallySalary Range Disclaimer\nThe base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location.
