The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, cloud operations, AI-enabled service improvements and platform reliability.\nWorking closely with the Cloud Solution Architect, the Azure Specialist translates technical designs into operationally supported services while driving standardisation, automation and innovation across the cloud platform estate.\nThe role combines hands-on engineering expertise with a passion for automation, operational excellence and emerging technologies.\nResponsibilities\nKEY REPONSIBILITIES:\nAzure Operations & Support\nProvide second and third line support for Azure platform services, ensuring incidents, requests and problems are resolved effectively and within agreed service levels. \nMonitor platform health, performance, security and operational stability across Azure services. \nParticipate in major incident, problem and change management activities. \nPerform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues. \nSupport operational readiness, service maintenance and lifecycle management activities. \nCollaborate with vendors and support partners where required to resolve complex technical issues \nAzure Platform Engineering\nDeploy, manage and optimise Azure infrastructure and platform services. \nSupport Azure Networking, Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Storage, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Arc, Azure Backup, Update Manager and monitoring capabilities. \nEnsure Azure environments remain secure, resilient, cost-effective and aligned to platform standards. \nSupport cloud transformation and platform modernisation initiatives. \nAutomation & Infrastructure as Code\nDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM Templates and Azure-native tooling. \nCreate automation solutions using PowerShell, Python and Azure automation services. \nSupport CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for cloud platform deployments. \nIdentify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and self-service capabilities. \nPromote platform standardisation through reusable templates and automation frameworks. \nProject Delivery & Solution Realisation\nSupport delivery of projects and technical changes designed by the Solution Architect. \nTranslate technical requirements into deployable and supportable solutions. \nContribute to testing, implementation and service transition activities. \nWork with business stakeholders to ensure delivered solutions meet operational and business requirements. \nSupport project documentation, technical designs and knowledge transfer activities. \nContinuous Improvement & Innovation\nIdentify opportunities to improve platform performance, reliability, security and user experience. \nContribute to innovation initiatives involving cloud services, automation, AI capabilities and modern engineering practices. \nSupport the operationalisation of new technologies and services introduced by the Cloud Architecture team. \nDrive improvements in monitoring, reporting, documentation and operational processes. \nStakeholder & Team Collaboration\nBuild effective relationships with users, project teams, architects, suppliers and other technology teams. \nParticipate in technical workshops, planning sessions and Agile delivery activities. \nClearly communicate technical issues, risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. \nContribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and knowledge sharing. \nQualifications\nREQUIREMENTS:\nSignificant experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Azure Administration, Platform Engineering or related technology disciplines. \nMicrosoft Azure certifications (Administrator, Azure Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer or equivalent) are desirable but not essential. \nITIL Foundation or equivalent service management experience desirable. \nEquivalent combinations of practical experience, professional certifications and technical expertise will be considered. \nStrong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English. \nExperience:\n4+ years of experience in IT support or a related role, with a focus on their specific domain. \nIn-depth knowledge and hands-on experience within their domain. \nProficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to their domain. \nCompetencies:\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. \nAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. \nStrong expertise in Microsoft Azure services including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings \nStrong working knowledge of: \nMicrosoft Entra ID \nAzure Automation (Runbooks, Functions, Logic Apps) \nAzure Arc \nAzure Backup & Recovery \nAzure Update Manager \nAzure Monitor and Log Analytics \nMicrosoft Sentinel \nAzure Networking Services and Connectivity Solutions. \nExpertise in Azure security principles, governance controls and compliance best practices. \nStrong understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, load balancers and hybrid cloud connectivity. \nProficiency in PowerShell, Python and other automation and scripting technologies. \nStrong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management and cloud automation frameworks. \nExperience with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, source control and release management. \nExcellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. \nStrong customer focus with the ability to provide high-quality support and service to end users and stakeholders. \nAbility to manage multiple priorities across operational support, project delivery and continuous improvement activities. \nStrong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational and business teams. \nExcellent
