Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support production, improve equipment and processes, and help develop practical, sustainable solutions. Prior metals experience is not required. We are looking for a strong mechanical foundation, curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to learn our specialized processes quickly.\nAs a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate closely with Production, Quality, R&D, Maintenance, and Supply Chain partners to improve manufacturing performance, troubleshoot technical issues, support equipment and process development, and implement sustainable improvements across operations.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead hands-on troubleshooting and improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes.\nApply engineering fundamentals and structured experimentation to optimize processes, improve yields, and reduce variation.\nSupport the design, development, and improvement of production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and finished assemblies.\nMonitor process performance, quality metrics, equipment reliability, and production yields; use data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.\nPerform root cause investigations, equipment and process failure analysis, and corrective action follow-through.\nEvaluate mechanical performance through testing, measurement, data analysis, and direct observation on the manufacturing floor.\nDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flows, work instructions, specifications, and engineering documentation.\nUse Statistical Process Control (SPC), capability analysis, or other data-driven methods to monitor and improve process performance.\nProvide technical guidance related to mechanical systems, equipment, tooling, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid systems, and manufacturing methods.\nPartner with R&D, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to support business objectives, capital projects, and new product introductions.\nSupport operators and technicians through training, coaching, clear work instructions, and hands-on technical leadership.\nDrive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and reliability initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.\nManage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines, deliverables, and clear communication with stakeholders.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.\nStrong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to unfamiliar equipment, processes, and manufacturing challenges.\nDemonstrated ability to learn quickly, ask effective questions, independently research technical topics, and translate new knowledge into practical solutions.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.\nExcellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to operators, technicians, engineers, and business partners.\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.\nStrong organizational, project management, and follow-through skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nHands-on manufacturing engineering experience supporting production equipment, tooling, fixtures, or process improvement.\nExperience with mechanical design, equipment troubleshooting, fabrication methods, automation, heat transfer, fluid systems, or industrial equipment.\nExperience using CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical specifications.\nExperience with Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement.\nWhy Join Morgan Advanced Materials?\nMorgan Advanced Materials is a global leader in advanced materials science and engineering, providing innovative ceramic, carbon, and composite solutions that help customers solve complex technical challenges across a wide range of industries.\nOur Benefits Include\nBenefits effective on your first day of regular full-time employment\nMedical, Dental, and Vision coverage\n401(k) retirement savings plan\nPaid vacation, holidays, and sick time\nAnnual bonus opportunity of up to 20%\nWork Authorization Requirement\nThis position is subject to U.S. export control regulations.
