The Litigation Docket Specialist is expected to provide comprehensive docket reports to case teams, answer any questions that may arise, and research complex issues before escalating to their manager. Additionally, the Litigation Docket Specialist will train staff and attorneys on the Firm’s docket software and the proper procedures related to docket/calendaring, as required. Reporting to the Legal Practice Support Management team, the Litigation Docket Specialist will be able to seek guidance from the Senior Litigation Docket Specialist and the Supervisor of Legal Practice Support Operations.\nMorgan Lewis recognizes the benefits of supporting flexible working arrangements. This position will reside in any of the following locations: Century City, Los Angeles, Orange County, Seattle, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley (Palo Alto), with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility to work overtime required.\nPrimary responsibilities include:\nMaintains the computerized docket system for litigation attorneys practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions.\nReviews correspondence, pleadings, discovery, filings and deposition notices for relevant and pertinent deadlines and extensive daily data entry into the calendaring database according to firm wide and department standards.\nManages complex, high end docketing work (e.g. scheduling orders)\nResearch questions from attorneys, paralegals and/or secretaries regarding deadlines, calculations of deadlines, local rules, etc.\nResponds to requests regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar.\nReferences and research court codes, state and federal statutes, court websites and Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw as appropriate.\nEnters parameters, run, print, and distribute reports as necessary.\nPrioritizes and processes requests received from attorneys, paralegals and/or secretaries to docket litigation deadlines in active litigation for clients.\nTrains staff and attorneys on the computerized docket system and proper procedures related to docket/calendaring on an ongoing basis as required.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nEducation and experience:\nHigh School diploma or equivalent.\nA minimum of seven years of related experience.\nAn understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings at the federal, state, and county level strongly preferred.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.\nStrong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail. \nTeam player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals. \nDemonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs. The foregoing salary range applies only to the specific available position advertised herein. The total compensation package for this position will also include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
