This is a Principal Software Engineer position at Vice President Level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintains software solutions that support business needs.\nSince 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.\nWhat you’ll do in the role:\nYou will maintain, Develop, test, support, and enhance a legacy Java-based application running in production.\nWithin squad you will handle various development, engineering, and operational tasks, ranging from bug fixes, automation, DevOps tasks, and supporting on-call rotation.\nWorking with the squad & wider Technology stakeholders, you will support the continuous improvement of our services through development, automation, and effective observability solutions.\nEnforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.\nWorking with Technology teams, you will develop new integrations, plugins, and onboard new tools to support business needs and integrate with the Morgan Stanley ecosystem.\nParticipate in design discussions, code reviews, and various Agile ceremonies to help us produce the best product possible.\nYou will deliver knowledge sharing and participate in cross-pollination of good practices and standards across squad & Data Protection Services department, providing documentation and presentations.\nWhat you’ll bring to the role:\n10+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Springboot, Microservices.\nSolid understanding of HTTP/REST, TLS/SSL, authentication & authorization concepts.\nStrong object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts to design robust and scalable software solutions.\nLeverage expertise in Spring and Spring Security to build secure and efficient applications.\nStrong data security principles to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with industry standards.\nExperience in GenAI/Agentic AI/LLMs will be added advantage.\nStrong debugging and troubleshooting skills across logs, thread dumps, and network traces.\nExcellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) with the ability to convey outcomes to a wide audience.\nExperience with version control systems such as Git.\nKnowledge of LDAP, JDBC, relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL).\nDrive architecture and design decisions; review critical code, designs, and production changes.\nCoach engineers through technical challenges, production incidents, and career progression.\nUnderstanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.\nUnderstanding Perl Programming.\nExperience with observability tooling (Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus).\nExperience with cybersecurity practices, such as encryption at rest and in transit, secret management, and public key infrastructure.\nJava certifications like OCJP, Java Web Component Developer\nAt least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.\nWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:\nAt Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients - helping them reach their goals.
