Working with global engineering colleagues, the Trading Desk and Operations, we deliver reliable software for business-critical workflows.\nAbout the role\nWe are seeking an experienced software engineer in Hong Kong to deliver features and components for Stock loan Trading, lifecycle management and platform renovation. You will combine hands-on development with analysis of business workflows, taking ownership of assigned work from requirements clarification through testing and production release.\nThis is an experienced individual-contributor role. You will use independent judgement and manage your deliverables without routine supervision, working within agreed designs and priorities. Technical leads will help resolve unfamiliar domain questions and broader architectural decisions.\nWhat you will do\nTake ownership of assigned features and components, plan implementation steps and deliver tested, maintainable software against agreed requirements.\nAnalyse requirements and data with business analysts, product partners and engineers; clarify workflow details with Trading and Operations users as needed.\nDevelop server-side services and integrations supporting trade capture, inventory updates, returns, recalls or other lifecycle functions.\nContribute to platform renovation by implementing new components, adapting interfaces and validating behavior against existing systems.\nApply sound engineering judgement within agreed architecture; identify dependencies and raise questions or risks early when scope or system-wide impacts are unclear.\nWrite automated tests, perform code reviews and use data checks and reconciliation to verifycorrectness, including exceptions and failure scenarios.\nSupport controlled releases and production troubleshooting, investigate root causes and implement fixes with appropriate guidance for high-risk changes.\nKeep teammates and leads informed through clear progress updates, technical summaries and documentation; share knowledge and support less-experienced colleagues.\nWhat you will bring\nAt least 6 years of strong server-side programming experience, with Scala as a key preferred skill. Candidates with strong Scala programming expertise will be highly considered. Java experience, software design, data structures, and algorithms are also valued.\nProfessional experience delivering production software, with evidence of independently completing substantial features or complex project tasks.\nPractical SQL and relational database skills, familiarity with Unix/Linux, and an understanding of service interfaces and application integration.\nExperience with automated testing, version control, code review and disciplined software delivery.\nGood analytical and debugging skills: follow data and event flows, investigate unexpected behaviour and translate findings into practical fixes.\nThe ability to understand the business context of your work and a strong interest in learning Securities Lending, trading and lifecycle processes.\nClear written and spoken English and an ability to work effectively in a distributed, multi-person team, explaining progress, questions and technical findings.\nA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\nExperience that would be valuable\nFinancial services, Securities Lending, Prime Brokerage or other transaction-processing applications. Prior Securities Lending experience is not essential.\nMessaging, event-driven systems, modern Java frameworks or distributed application troubleshooting.\nApplication renovation, integration testing, data reconciliation, CI/CD or production monitoring.\nResponsible use of approved AI-assisted development tools, with independent validation, testing,code review and protection of confidential information.\nWhy this role\nBuild engineering and business expertise through meaningful ownership of real production features.
