This role is focused on developing scalable data pipelines, APIs, and data services using modern cloud technologies.\nYou will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering teams to design and build reliable data solutions that power business critical applications. This is primarily a new development role with opportunities to contribute to platform architecture, engineering standards, and AI enabled development practices.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop scalable data pipelines and data services.\n\nBuild reliable and efficient data solutions using modern cloud and open-source technologies.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\n\nEnsure data quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.\n\nContribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, and Agile delivery.\n\nLeverage AI assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.\n\nMinimum 2 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python and SQL.\n\nExperience building ETL or ELT pipelines and working with relational databases.\n\nExperience with cloud data platforms and modern data technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, PostgreSQL, DuckDB, Airflow, Kafka, or similar technologies.\n\nUnderstanding of REST APIs and modern data architectures.\n\nExperience using AI assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.\n\nFamiliarity with Large Language Models and their practical application in software engineering.\n\nStrong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.\n\nExperience working in Agile Scrum teams\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.\n\nKnowledge of Lakehouse architectures and modern open table formats.\n\nExperience with CI and CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.\n\nExposure to financial services or enterprise data platforms.\n\nMorningstar is an equal opportunity employer.\nMorningstar's hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to collaborate in-person each week as we've found that we're at our best when we're purposely together on a regular basis.
