Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an SRE Engineer to join our client’s cloud engineering organization as a contingent worker. In this embedded role, you will work closely with the client’s SRE and product development teams to strengthen production readiness and reliability for a large scale software platform.

Employment Conditions

• Employment Type: Fixed term contract through MTC. This is a contingent worker assignment, so you will remain an MTC employee throughout the engagement and will not be directly employed by the client.
• Contract Duration: Initial 3 month contract (mid November 2026 through mid February 2027). If there are no performance concerns after the initial period, the contract is expected to be renewed in further 3 month increments.
• Location: Tokyo, Japan. Hybrid work style, 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home each week.
• Working Hours: 9:00-18:00 (1-hour break), plus participation in an on call rotation (9:00 to 17:00 JST, including weekends).
• Salary: Competitive, based on experience and skillset (details shared during the interview process).

On a given day, an SRE Engineer will:

• Maintain and operate Kubernetes clusters and cloud based infrastructure.
• Design and build software solutions that improve monitoring, service reliability, and overall engineering efficiency.
• Drive productivity across engineering and operations by automating workflows and reducing operational toil.
• Participate in on call rotations to actively monitor system health, respond to incidents, and maintain high service availability.
• Provide technical support and resolution for escalated user requests and production issues.

Requirements

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

• 4+ years of hands on experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or related engineering domains.
• Solid expertise in public cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Proven experience with production on call responsibilities, system troubleshooting, and incident response.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to Have:

• Proficiency in Go, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Strong experience with modern observability platforms and tools (for example OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or APM tools).
• Practical experience delivering direct user or customer support.
• Demonstrated experience implementing core SRE practices such as disaster recovery planning, chaos engineering, and capacity management.
