Please read on...\nSenior Utility Engineer\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn and manage site utility, electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure reliable and compliant manufacturing operations.\nProvide hands-on engineering oversight for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical facility assets.\nLead and manage changes to utility and facility equipment to maintain validated and qualified system states.\nCreate, review, and approve operational procedures, maintenance plans, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.\nAnalyze complex equipment issues and implement effective engineering solutions that minimize risk and downtime.\nSupport regulatory inspections and internal audits, addressing observations through timely and effective corrective actions.\nEnsure ongoing compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements, and internal quality standards.\nOversee external vendors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence across utility systems.\nMonitor equipment performance and implement maintenance and reliability strategies aligned with site and global standards.\nRequired Qualifications\nOne of the following:\nBachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience; OR\nAssociate degree, technical diploma, or certification in an engineering or skilled technical field and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience; OR\nNine (9) or more years of equivalent work experience supporting engineering, maintenance, or automation systems within regulated industries.\nDemonstrated experience supporting utility, HVAC, electrical, or facility systems in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.\nProven ability to maintain and improve equipment and systems in a validated state.\nStrong technical writing skills, including experience creating, reviewing, and approving regulated documentation.\nWorking knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies for resolving complex technical issues.\nHands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting, Building Management Systems (BMS), and industrial Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).\nSolid project management skills with experience leading projects from initiation through successful completion.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and cross-functional teams.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. as required.\nLocation: Durham, NC (onsite)\nPay Rate: $68/hr - $71/hr W-2 Only (based on Education/Experience)\nContract: 9-month\nHealth, dental, vision, 401k (provided minimum eligibility hours are met)\nWhy Novartis:\nHelping people with disease and their families takes more than innovative science.
