While the shape of each role may vary, they all share a strong foundation in building reliable APIs, services and product capabilities that support our digital health platform.\nAs passionate technologists with an appreciation for clean code and fault tolerant systems - we believe in leveraging different perspectives and backgrounds because that makes our team and product stronger.\nWe look for teammates who are:\nCurious and aim to understand things deeply.\nAdvocates for best practice.\nRespectful and inclusive.\nComfortable sharing the grunt work.\nWhat you’ll do\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll:\nDesign, build and own APIs and services that form the core building blocks of our platform\nDeliver reliable product capabilities from technical design through to production, monitoring and ongoing improvement\nWrite clean, well-tested and maintainable code, conduct thoughtful code reviews and produce clear technical documentation\nTake the lead on solving complex technical challenges and making pragmatic, data-informed engineering decisions\nHelp evolve our architecture by decomposing monolithic applications into well-bounded, domain-driven services\nDesign and build resilient distributed and event-driven systems\nContribute across the stack where appropriate, working closely with Product, Design, Data and other engineers to deliver high-quality customer experiences\nBuild and improve deployment, testing and development practices that help the team release confidently\nContribute to automated regression, performance and resiliency testing to keep production stable and fast\nDrive operational excellence through observability, runbooks and active participation in incident response and resolution\nExplore new and emerging technologies, clearly documenting your findings and recommendations\nProactively identify and champion improvements to our engineering practices and standards\nMentor other engineers, model best practice and help raise the technical bar across the team\nSupport the continued growth of our engineering team through interviews, onboarding and knowledge-sharing\nWhat you’ll bring\nAround 6+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, deploying and scaling API-driven systems\nStrong backend engineering capability and fluency in at least one modern programming language, such as Go, Java, Kotlin, Python or TypeScript\nStrong experience designing and operating production workloads in a public cloud environment, particularly AWS\nExtensive knowledge of cloud architecture principles and patterns\nStrong knowledge of distributed systems, fault tolerance and resiliency patterns\nStrong knowledge of API best practices, including contract-first design, versioning strategies and backwards compatibility\nExperience designing and working with event-driven architectures, including messaging, streaming and eventual consistency\nStrong experience with Linux and containerised environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and production observability practices\nSolid working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL\nA track record of writing clean, well-tested and maintainable code, with demonstrated technical initiative\nThe ability to balance technical quality with pragmatic product delivery\nHealthy curiosity, strong autonomy and a deep sense of accountability for your work\nA genuine drive to grow as an engineer and raise the standard of those around you\nFor our full-stack opportunities, you’ll also bring meaningful experience building modern web applications and delivering intuitive, high-quality customer experiences.
