Its employees consistently rank Moss as one of the best places to work.\nPOSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT\nTheProject Manager, BESS, leads the early-stage development and execution of utility-scale BESS EPC projects on our Energy Preconstruction Management team. You will play a pivotal part in managing RFP responses, coordinating internal stakeholders, facilitating Owner communications, and supporting the Senior Manager in key preconstruction deliverables including scheduling, permitting, budgeting, and contract execution.\nThe Project Manager, BESS role is a leadership position but also intended to serve as a developmental step toward becoming a Senior Project Manager or Director, with increasing responsibility and ownership over time.\nESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nProposal & Client Coordination:\nLead as a central coordinator for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs-analyzing requirements, developing response strategies, and aligning internal contributors.\n\nCollaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Estimating, and Operations teams to produce compliant, compelling, and timely proposal documents.\n\nMaintain and improve a library of reusable proposal content, templates, and pricing assumptions to enhance response efficiency and accuracy.\n\nInterface directly with clients and proposal stakeholders to clarify deliverables and respond to technical questions.\n\nProject & Document Support:\nLead the development and review of baseline schedules, drawing logs, general conditions estimates, and proposal exhibits.\n\nLead the coordination of project due diligence activities (e.g., site assessments, geotechnical reports, utility locates).\n\nMaintain key documentation including RFI Logs, Preconstruction Budget Logs, Exhibit Trackers, and Proposal Submittals.\n\nFacilitate and document Owner coordination meetings during preconstruction, escalating issues as needed to the Project Manager.\n\nReview and distribute weekly internal and external reports summarizing progress, open items, and risks.\n\nModel exceptional customer relations and gather feedback during the preconstruction process.\n\nContract, Budget & Permitting Assistance:\nLead the development and review of Limited Notices to Proceed (LNTPs), Early Works Agreements, and Owner contract exhibits.\n\nSpearhead preliminary cash flow analysis, tracking schedule implications, early deposits, and procurement lead times.\n\nCollaborate with the team to support permitting timelines, submittal requirements, and agency communications.\n\nLead coordination with procurement and resource acquisition timelines aligned with project milestones.\n\nTeam Collaboration & Growth:\nCommunicate regularly and effectively across disciplines to ensure clarity on preconstruction tasks, risks, and dependencies.\n\nSpearhead process improvements, tools, and coordination strategies to increase the effectiveness of the preconstruction team.\n\nDemonstrate ownership of tasks, proactive follow-up, and readiness to step into larger responsibilities over time.\n\nManager 1-2 Preconstruction Assistant Project Managers and mentor 2-3 Project Engineers.\n\nAs a Project Manager gains experience, they may take on broader responsibilities such as:\nProviding input on BESS Business Unit strategic outlook\n\nLeading Owner contract negotiations and strategy alignment.\n\nManaging cash flow and financial forecasting independently.\n\nOverseeing end-to-end proposal processes with minimal oversight.\n\nDriving site due diligence, engineering coordination, and permitting timelines across multiple projects.\n\nLeading internal teams and mentoring junior staff members.\n\nEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, business, or related discipline; MBA or technical graduate studies is a plus.\n\n4+ years of experience in the utility-scale solar EPC industry or related preconstruction/project support roles.\n\nBESS experience strongly preferred but not required.\n\nField experienced preferred but not required.\n\nStrong organizational and writing skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Smartsheet, Primavera P6, BlueBeam, or estimating software (e.g., InEight) is preferred.\n\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills to support cross-functional coordination and external client interaction.\n\nAttention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to follow through on project milestones.\n\nDisplays the capacity to focus on project specifics swiftly and then shift perspective to the broader strategy.\n\nManage challenges that can only be solved with input from multiple cross-functional teams.
