The primary function is development and maintenance of our three standard supply contracts into F1, IndyCar and NASCAR for whom Motion Applied develops the low-level embedded code. Outside of these series the role involves supporting our Motorsport customers use of MA hardware and software tools.\nAs a Principal Embedded Software Engineer, you will be domain expert for Motorsport embedded systems into our Motorsport series. Playing a pivotal role in developing new products and enhancing the service provided to new or existing customers. Your knowledge and technical expertise will also be required to support Motorsport sales and Motorsport derived product sales into other series and industries.\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\nDisseminates knowledge of Motorsport embedded systems and products \nManages own work and mentors’ junior members in their work. \nDefines overall technical architecture of solutions, products and technical strategy for embedded systems development, in line with business imperatives. \nRecognised as expert within the organisation who solves unique and complex problems which have a broad impact on the business. \nEngages with a broad range of stakeholders to guide product development, contributing to proposals and bids. \nAnticipates internal and external business challenges and initiates process, product or service improvements in response. \nTechnical lead ensuring that new and existing customer requirements are understood and architects’ technical solution. \nAnalyses and overcomes technical challenges, defines innovative technology solutions and leads often on new, ground-breaking concepts and systems. \nKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:\nEssential\nFirst class degree or upper 2nd in Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other highly quantitative field (or equivalent experience). \nExperienced in C or C++ programming language in an embedded environment \nExperienced in developing software targeted at microprocessors and microcontrollers. \nExperienced working with RTOS software development e.g. INTGERITY, FreeRTOS, RTEMS, VxWorks, Linux \nManagement of full lifecycle software development using agile and V-model methodologies \nExpert in solving challenges using engineering first principles \nExpert in presenting in internal design reviews and external design reviews \nExpert in understanding hardware design, schematics and device datasheets \nProficient in Scripting and build script languages e.g. Python, Perl, ANT \nAdept at researching, understanding and implementing technical solution methods when beyond current skill set \nOperate to MISRA ‘C’ or equivalent standard \nDesirable\nExperience with Motion Applied software (i.e. ATLAS, System Monitor) \nExperience of working in an automotive or motorsport environment \nApplication development in desktop environments \nDevelopment using model driven tools, such as MATLAB Simulink \nFPGA development \nKnowledge of developing in a multi-threaded environment \nKnowledge of eTPU development \nISO26262, safety related requirement capture and testing \nValues and Behaviours:\nGood communicator with the ability to capture information quickly and accurately. \nSelf-motivated and well organised and be able to work on tasks independently. \nPassion for innovation and excellence to remain in touch with new technologies and industry trends. \nDrive and commitment to see activities through to completion. \nMeets deadlines matching pace to the urgency of the situation. \nWhat we can offer you\nIn return for everything you bring to the table, we can ensure an exciting, challenging role in a dynamic business surrounded by some of the best people in their respective fields.\nAt Motion Applied we firmly believe it’s the relationships and friendships we create while working that make us special.
