Motive Power helps utilities and data center developers plan, deploy, and deliver complex infrastructure — on time, at scale. AI driven, human reviewed.

Company Overview

At Motive Power, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional results in projects while prioritizing excellence and sustainability. Our team of experts thrives on complex challenges, consistently exceeding client expectations and making a positive impact on the world. With a commitment to ESG considerations, we strive to transform the world into a more sustainable place through our projects.

Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Scheduler to lead Scheduling for Motive Power’s largest and most complex programs and to set the standard for the Scheduling practice. You will own Scheduling deliverables across a variety of project types and scopes, advise client executives and project leadership on schedule strategy and risk, and manage and mentor a team of schedulers. You will also define the Scheduling procedures, quality controls, and best practices that every Motive Power scheduler works to, including how our team uses AI to work faster and more accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Scheduling and project controls on multiple large, complex projects and programs, owning Scheduling deliverables from baseline through closeout.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Project Schedulers (levels I to IV), including work assignment, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Review team deliverables for accuracy, logic integrity, and compliance with contract requirements, and serve as the final quality check before schedules go to clients.
  • Develop and maintain the firm’s Scheduling standards, procedures, templates, and process maps, and drive consistent adoption across projects.
  • Perform advanced schedule analysis, including critical path, float, resource-loaded, and schedule risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo), and translate results into clear recommendations.
  • Prepare, review, and defend time impact analyses, delay and forensic analyses, and recovery plans, and support claims and dispute resolution as needed.
  • Advise client executives, Project Managers, and stakeholders on schedule strategy, performance metrics, and corrective action, and present at executive and steering committee meetings.
  • Provide regular status reports on schedule, cost, and risk, and develop integrated cost and schedule controls across programs.
  • Evaluate and manage program and portfolio schedules, prioritize competing projects, and recommend resource and sequencing strategies.
  • Coordinate with external schedulers, contractors, and Project Managers to resolve issues, conflicts, and constraints.
  • Contribute to business development and proposal efforts, including Scheduling approach, staffing, and estimates for new work.
  • Evaluate Scheduling tools and technology, and lead continuous improvement of the Scheduling practice.
  • Identify and apply AI tools to improve Scheduling work, such as schedule review, logic checks, forecasting, and reporting, and set guidelines for using them with accuracy and judgment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project Scheduling and project controls, including leadership of schedules on large, complex projects.
  • Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, including advanced analysis, reporting, and schedule risk tools.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing other schedulers or project controls professionals.
  • Proven experience developing Scheduling procedures and process mapping at a team or organizational level.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment on complex, ambiguous schedule issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to and advise senior client and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead as part of a team.
  • Experience in utilities, construction, oil and gas, or renewable energy industries is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • PMI certified PMP or similar certification (CAPM, PMI-SP).
  • AACE certification (CCT, CST, CCP, or PSP).
  • Experience with schedule delay analysis, claims support, or expert testimony.
  • Experience with integrated cost and schedule tools and earned value management.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline Scheduling, analysis, or reporting workflows.

Position Suitability

We are seeking a highly experienced Scheduling leader who will play a pivotal role in managing schedules across a portfolio of diverse, complex projects and in raising the capability of the team around them. If you are passionate about Scheduling, problem-solving, mentoring others, and contributing to the success of major programs, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact. Your expertise in Scheduling, communication, leadership, and project management methodologies will be instrumental in driving project success.
