Key responsibilities include troubleshooting software-driven electronics, managing IP networks, supporting server and network hardware, and ensuring the optimal performance of RF and broadband architectures, encompassing legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.\nJob Description\nWe are seeking a self-motivated and skilled Field Engineer to play a key role in the design, implementation, and support of advanced communication systems. This role requires extensive travel (>75%) and a strong blend of RF communications and computer/networking expertise. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, a professional image, and the ability to operate effectively under pressure and with minimal direct supervision.\nSystem Implementation & Design: Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams to design, implement, test, optimize, cutover, and document communication systems that meet or exceed customer specifications.\nOnsite & Remote Configuration: Utilize design tools, planners, and formalized processes to perform remote and onsite configuration of network, server, RF, and database components. Generate 'as-configured' documentation and baseline reports.\nInstallation Oversight & Documentation: Oversee the onsite installation of network, server, and RF equipment using system design drawings and product documentation. Provide 'as-built' information for the final system documentation package.\nTroubleshooting & Maintenance: Perform onsite and remote troubleshooting of networks, servers, databases, and RF infrastructure using system logs and tools. Ensure system logs and event monitoring applications are clear of faults. Conduct preventative maintenance routines, focusing on trend analysis and documentation.\nAcceptance Testing & Optimization: Execute product and system test plans for acceptance testing, correct any deficiencies, and provide accepted test results for documentation. Perform performance verification and optimization of digital and analog RF infrastructure based on FCC license data and design parameters, providing baseline measurement data.\nTechnical Problem Solving: Design and develop solutions for complex technical issues encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support, leveraging project design drawings and customer system information.\nReporting: Provide weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments.\n RF & Networking: Strong combination of multi-site RF communication systems and computer/networking skills. Proficient in LAN/WAN IP networks, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network systems (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls).\nTechnical Experience (Installation, Administration, and Troubleshooting):\nServer Virtualization (VMWare ESXi v.6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+).\nServer Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2019).\nWorkstation Operating Systems (Windows 7 & 10).\nSwitches, routers, firewalls (HP and Juniper preferred).\nSecure products/protocols (KMF, KVL, AES).\nRF systems (transmitters, receivers, filters, antenna networks).\nProject 25 products (trunked and conventional).\nLogging recording systems.\nDemonstrated Systems Experience with:\nMotorola base stations (G-Series).\nMotorola consoles (MCC7500, AXS).\nAstro25 Master Site, Astro 25 Multisite, and ASR equipment.\nChannel Banks and T1 Circuits.\nStandard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet-switching techniques.\nTest Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in using various communications test equipment, including:\nCommunication system analyzers (S412E LMR Master, Viavi 3920B).\nRF Power Sensor.\nEthernet test sets (Anritsu 9090A, VeeX MTX150, T-BERD 5800).\nT1 test sets, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set).\nMotorola subscribers (APX, APX Next) and CPS programming software.\nGeneral Skills:\nHighly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google G-Suite applications.\nStrong self-management and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers, partners, and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service).\nAbility to operate calmly and effectively to resolve customer issues in stressful situations.\nAdditional Requirements:\nExcellent communication skills and professional presentation.\nValid driver’s license with a clean driving record.\nMust be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts.\nLegal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
