The core of our business involves deploying mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for government and public safety communications clients.\nJob Description\nThe Field Service Engineer will support the Field Service Organization (FSO). The FSO supports implementing and maintaining highly technical mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.\nJob tasks include but are not limited to deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwaves, computers, servers, and network equipment. The department works with Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales teams, Project Managers, Field Engineers, and Service Partners to accomplish the mission. The FSO department is on-call 24/7/365 to support mission-critical systems for our public safety customers.\nResponsibilities include:\nProviding technical support for specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning communication system infrastructure, and optimizing the performance of RF and Broadband architecture (e.g., legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure).\nMaintaining, optimizing, testing, documenting, and supporting complex communication systems.\nPerforming preventative maintenance routines with a focus on trend analysis and documentation to ensure proper system operation.\nDeveloping solutions for difficult technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues.\nCollaborating with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Customer Service personnel to effectively maintain, optimize, and support advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.\nDelivering strong knowledge of wired communication systems, such as Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).\nGaining experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communication systems, and networking equipment.\nPossessing unique combinations of strong multi-site RF communication system and computer/networking skills.\nProviding weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.\nBeing proficient with Microsoft Office products and the Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.\nBeing capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.\nDemonstrating strong self-management and interpersonal skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams.\nBeing self-motivated and self-managed to perform required duties with minimal direct supervision.\nBeing able to quickly solve customer problems during stressful situations.\nSkills and Knowledge:\nExposure to RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment and IT networks\nMust have knowledge of wired/wireless communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)\nMust have knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet-switching techniques\nMust be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access\nMust have strong self-management skills and \"people\" skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor partner community and Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.\nMust be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.\nMust be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations\nKnowledge of configuration and testing of channel banks, routers, hubs, and switches\nAbility to develop and present technical training. \nProvides guidance in integrating new tools and solutions into the operations of the team.\nFCC license and industry certifications such as ETA are a plus.\nTarget Base Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 USD\nConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
