The mechanical engineering group is responsible for designing and manufacturing support of rugged handheld and mobile communication devices.Job Description\nContribute to the mechanical design and development of portable and mobile two-way communication products and improve designs of current generation radio products. Utilize best in class tools to develop innovative solutions to design challenges. \nIdentifies design issues and determines design direction, goals and plans tasks for segments of engineering programs. \nGenerates and maintains mechanical engineering schedule for own tasks and responsibilities. \nDetermines and implements changes to enhance design or meet functional specifications. \nMeets cost goals and monitors current cost status.\nSolicits guidance/feedback as necessary to improve performance. \nPerforms stress, and tolerance analyses on new or existing designs or concepts to determine theoretical design feasibility. \nDesigns and conducts experiments using statistical tools and techniques to confirm analyses, to evaluate new or existing designs to conform to product specifications, or r solve problems. \nDevelops and presents test plans when problems arise, coordinates testing and data acquisition. \nInterfaces with program team members, suppliers and customers. \nNegotiates tasks and schedules with other internal groups to ensure conformance to product schedules. Additional Qualified Skills: \nExperience in product development preferred. \nUnderstanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes such as injection molding, sheet metal and castings, design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) preferred. \nPossess a working knowledge of worst-case and statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing. \nPossess a working knowledge of finite element analysis theory and general mechanical engineering analysis.\nPossess analytical/problem solving skills, data acquisition skills, and ability to use statistical tools and techniques. \nAble to solve difficult problems involving testing, planning and implementation for new parts. \nKnowledge of design engineering, test processes and factory processes. \nBasic computer skills, Pro/Engineer preferred and working knowledge of common business applications. \nPossess good written and verbal communication skills. \nGood interpersonal communication skills and ability to operate within a team environment. \nGood organizational and time management skills, including daily and weekly planning and multitasking. \nAbility to create/read/interpret engineering drawings. \nNegotiation skills, presentation skills and ability to effectively conduct meetings.\nBasic Requirements\nWorking towards a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. \nMust Graduate on or after December 2027\nTravel Requirements\nNoneRelocation Provided\nNonePosition Type\nInternEEO Statement\nMotorola Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
