The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and engineers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow, Poland) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing mission-critical AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. We know the mission-critical needs of our customers are unique and different from the most consumer technologies that leverage AI today.\nJob Description\nJob Description\nAs a Senior Software Engineer in our camera systems group, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing C++ code for embedded systems. You will work on implementing and deploying AI models and sophisticated algorithms directly on our camera hardware, enabling real-time analysis of video feeds for critical safety and security applications. This position requires a deep understanding of modern C++, strong software engineering principles, and experience with camera technologies.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and test high-performance modern C++ code for implementing AI models and computer vision algorithms on embedded camera platforms.\n\nOptimize code for performance and resource constraints on embedded systems.\n\nIntegrate and deploy AI models onto camera hardware.\n\nCollaborate with AI/ML engineers to translate models into efficient C++ implementations.\n\nWork with camera SDKs and APIs to access and process video streams.\n\nDevelop and maintain unit and integration tests.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and documentation\n\nTroubleshoot and debug software issues on embedded systems.\n\nContribute to the development of new features and enhancements for our camera systems.\n\nStay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, computer vision, and embedded systems.\n\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Masters or Ph.D. is a plus.\n\n4+ years of experience in C++ software development, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization.\n\nSignificant experience working with camera systems, including image processing, video encoding/decoding, and camera SDKs/APIs.\n\nExperience implementing and deploying AI models on embedded platforms is highly desired.\n\nProficiency in Python for scripting and tooling is a plus.\n\nStrong understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns, testing methodologies, and version control (e.g., Git).\n\nExperience with Linux/embedded Linux development environments.\n\nExcellent problem-solving and debugging skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\n\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\n\nExperience with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV) is a plus.\n\nExperience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX Runtime) is a plus.\n\nExperience with CI/CD systems like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps is also a plus.\n\nTarget Base Salary Range: $140,000 USD - $170,000 USD\nConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
