The week-to-week management will be carried out within the projects\nJob Description\nThe System Engineer role will form part of multi-disciplined project teams to design and deliver complex mission-critical voice and data systems. The systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services to our customers. The System Engineer will work in the post-sales phases of projects and may support multiple projects in parallel, depending on size and complexity. There may also be a requirement to provide support to pre-sales activities.\nThe System Engineer role can operate at different levels within the organisation and/or projects. The level of the role will be determined by the size and complexity of the project or activity, as well as the individual's level within the TS organisation. The System Engineering role can be fulfilled at any level within the TS career ladder; however, the engineering staff at lower levels will focus on smaller projects or elements of larger projects.\nMain duties:\nPerform detailed design to refine and develop communication system solutions and services which satisfy the requirements of the customer, end users and operator\nUndertake the generation of system documentation and equipment lists using relevant tools and processes.\nUndertake presentations of technical solutions and services to customers, project teams and management.\nWork together with project managers to help track progress, decisions and changes.\nDepending on the project scope, a System Engineer might be the technical lead responsible for the entire solution, overseeing the design, deployment and test teams until the project is completed. Alternatively, the System Engineer role might specialise in a particular area or sub-system based on the specifics of the area or project in which they are working.\nThe System Engineer role may also fulfil the role of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting projects, products and opportunities across the wider region.\nThe scope of responsibility for a Technical Staff System Engineer will be determined by their seniority in the organisation and the composition of the project team they are working with.\nThe System Engineer role responsibilities will include the types of activities listed below;\nValidating the client’s needs & requirements against pre-sales design\n\nPerform detailed design to refine the required system & service solutions\n\nDesign reviews in accordance with the Technical Staff process.\n\nBill of Materials and equipment ordering\n\nGeneration of system-specific technical documentation to project quality standards and processes\n\nWorking with product groups & 3rd Parties to ensure equipment and sub-systems are available to meet project requirements and timescales.\n\nRequirements Management.\n\nProviding technical support for the deployment of the project\n\nTimely detection and resolution of deviations from the design.\n\nParticipating in project reviews and identifying risks, issues and lessons learned\n\nAdhering to applicable processes and maintaining accurate records.\n\nEnsuring systems meet quality and security standards.\n\nManagement and closure of open technical issues to the customer’s satisfaction.\n\nProactively reporting back into the organisation and escalating where appropriate.\n\nDeveloping and/or executing test strategies and plans to ensure the solution(s) work as designed and requirements are fulfilled.\n\nManage and/or perform implementation of APCO P25 communication system solutions and services which satisfy the requirements of the customer, end user and operator\n\nProvides technical support for Solution Staging, as required\n\nLead or participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) while coordinating the technical aspects of the acceptance testing.\n\nResponsible for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of MSI and 3rd party solutions (with support from the supplier/vendor)\n\nResponsible for identifying, investigating and troubleshooting technical issues during project implementation\n\nResponsible for on-site Acceptance Tests, while coordinating the technical aspects of the acceptance testing.\n\nUpdate of technical documentation and technical change management\n\nProvide technical support during all project phases through to handover to the Support organisation\n\nBasic Requirements\nQualifications, Skills and Experience:\nUniversity degree or equivalent education in one of the following faculties: Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering\n\nAt least 5 years of professional experience in the area, e.g. Computer System and Network Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer, Field Network Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Customer Support Engineer or equivalent\n\nExcellent knowledge in Data and Network (LAN, WAN, Security, etc.)\n\nExcellent knowledge in Operating Systems and Applications (Linux, Windows, Virtualisation, etc.)\n\nExcellent knowledge in Radio Frequency RF (Base Station TX/RX, Mobile /Portable Radio, RF test equipment )\n\nManual skills for field work, like wiring, cabling, and physical installation of equipment, in addition to commissioning and testing tasks.\n\nValid Driving license\n\nAvailability and willingness to travel (80%), inside and outside the country of residence;\n\nFluent in English.\n\nExperience in one or more of the following would be an added advantage:\nRadio Communication Systems, Command and Control Systems, Technical Analysis and Problem Troubleshooting;\n\nSystem integration and testing experience in Motorola-specific technology, i.e. ASTRO P25, DIMETRA TETRA, MOTOTRBO DMR and NICE Voice Logging\n\nTravel Requirements\nUnder 10%Relocation Provided\nNonePosition Type\nExperiencedReferral Payment Plan\nYesEEO Statement\nMotorola Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
