Join us and shape your story with Mott MacDonald, where everyone has the opportunity to be brilliant.\nJob profile-\nWe are looking for an experienced Product Manager to shape the next generation of our time-series data capability.\nAcross major infrastructure projects, large volumes of sensor, monitoring and operational data are generated over time. Our Timeseries product enables project teams to bring this information together, connect it with other project data, understand trends and changes, and build data-driven applications and services around it.\nYou will join our digital product and engineering organisation in India and work with colleagues and project teams around the world.\nRole description\nThis is an opportunity to take ownership of a product at an important point in its evolution. We have an established legacy platform supporting real projects and customer use cases, alongside a new cloud-based Timeseries product that we are developing for the future.\nYour role will be to understand how our customers and project teams use time-series data today, identify their most important needs, and translate those into a clear product strategy and roadmap for the new platform. Your job will not be to recreate the legacy system feature for feature. You will work with customers, project teams, engineers, architects and other Product Managers to determine:\nwhat should become part of the core Timeseries product;\n\nwhat should be redesigned or simplified;\n\nwhat should be enabled through APIs, events and integrations;\n\nhow existing projects can safely transition to the new platform;\n\nand which legacy capabilities can ultimately be retired.\n\nYou will be comfortable working in a technically complex environment while keeping the product focused on user needs, reusable capabilities and measurable outcomes.\nJob Responsibilities-\nOwn the vision, strategy and roadmap for our Timeseries product.\n\nUnderstand how customers and project teams use time-series, sensor and operational data, and identify the problems that are most valuable for us to solve.\n\nLead product discovery with users, project teams, engineers and subject-matter experts, translating their needs into clear product outcomes and priorities.\n\nDefine MVPs and make deliberate decisions about what belongs in the core product and what does not.\n\nWork closely with the engineering team to maintain a clear, prioritised and delivery-ready product backlog, ensuring upcoming work is understood and aligned to product outcomes.\n\nPlay an active role in the team's agile delivery rhythm, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives, maintaining clarity on priorities, outcomes and learning.\n\nShape the product capabilities for ingesting, managing, finding, visualising and responding to time-series data, including ingestion, search and alarming.\n\nDefine how Timeseries works with APIs, events and other applications so that specialist project needs don't create unnecessary complexity within the core product.\n\nLead the product strategy for transitioning existing projects from our legacy platform, identifying what should be replaced, redesigned, supported differently or retired, and developing a repeatable migration approach.\n\nImprove onboarding and self-service so project teams can adopt and configure Timeseries without relying on specialist platform knowledge.\n\nWork closely with engineering, architecture, design and other product teams to turn product direction into delivered customer outcomes.\n\nDefine meaningful measures of product adoption, customer value and migration progress.\n\nCommunicate product direction, priorities, decisions and progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nCandidate Specification\nWe are looking for an experienced Product Manager who enjoys solving complex product problems and is comfortable working with technical products.\nYou may currently be working with a data platform, IoT product, analytics platform, developer platform, enterprise SaaS product or another technically complex B2B product.\nYou do not need to be a software engineer or database specialist. However, you should be technically curious and able to work confidently with engineers and architects, understand the implications of different approaches, and turn technical complexity into clear product decisions.\nMost importantly, you will bring strong product judgement. You will be comfortable deciding not only what we should build, but also what we should not build.\nYour experience is likely to include several of the following:\nProduct strategy, discovery and roadmap ownership.\n\nB2B, enterprise, platform or data product management.\n\nUnderstanding customer and user problems through research and discovery.\n\nTranslating complex needs into product outcomes rather than simply collecting feature requests.\n\nDefining MVPs and making evidence-based prioritisation and scope decisions.\n\nWorking closely with engineering, architecture and design teams.\n\nAPIs, integrations, data pipelines or other technically complex product capabilities.\n\nCloud-based software products.\n\nManaging products with multiple customer or project use cases.\n\nCommunicating complex product decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nExperience leading or contributing to a legacy platform replacement, customer migration, data-platform migration or major product transformation would be particularly valuable.\nQualifications Preferred-\nExperience in some of the following areas would be beneficial, but is not essential:\ntime-series databases or time-series data products;\n\nIoT, sensors, telemetry or operational data;\n\nMicrosoft Azure or other major cloud platforms;\n\nAPIs and SDKs;\n\nevent-driven systems;\n\ndata ingestion and data pipelines;\n\ndata visualisation and analytics;\n\nalerting or alarming products;\n\ngeospatial or GIS products;\n\nmulti-tenant SaaS or platform products.\n\nWe are more interested in finding an excellent Product Manager who is comfortable working with technical products, than somebody who already knows our particular technology stack.\nFurther details-\nThis role offers the opportunity to shape a product while it is being transformed rather than inheriting one where all the major product decisions have already been made.\nYou will help us take the best of an established capability, simplify areas that have become complex over time, and establish a modern Timeseries product that can support projects at scale.\nYou'll have the opportunity to work with real infrastructure use cases and diverse project teams, and to influence how sensor and operational data are used across our digital products in the future.\nThe successful candidate will ultimately help us answer three important questions:\nWhat should our Timeseries product become?\n\nHow do we make it simple and valuable for projects to adopt?\n\nHow do we successfully move from the platform we have today to the product we want for the future?\n\nFlexible working\nAt Mott MacDonald, we support our staff to create work-life balance which works for them and welcome candidates looking for career flexibility.
