Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.\nOverview of the role\nAs a P6 Project Planner, you will develop, maintain and monitor integrated project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6. You will support the successful delivery of rail and other major infrastructure projects by providing accurate planning, progress measurement, forecasting and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.\nWorking closely with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, contractors and clients, you will develop work breakdown structures, activities, milestones, logic links and baselines; integrate inputs from multiple disciplines and suppliers; and ensure programmes meet contractual, governance and planning requirements. You will gather and validate progress information, monitor performance against baseline, identify critical-path issues, risks and opportunities, and recommend recovery or mitigation actions.\nYou will produce look-ahead programmes, schedule variance analysis, forecasts, dashboards and KPI reports, and assess the programme impact of changes and variations. Where applicable, you will support earned value management, schedule risk assessment and alignment between schedule, cost and risk information. You will also facilitate planning and coordination meetings, present schedule updates and recovery plans, and contribute to project reviews and client audits.\nYou will join a collaborative project management and controls team supporting multidisciplinary rail projects, from renewal schemes to complex design-and-build programmes and rolling stock initiatives. The role offers the opportunity to broaden your project-controls experience, contribute to planning standards and best practice, and develop your career on major infrastructure programmes in the UK and internationally.\nCandidate specification\nEssential:\nDemonstrable experience in project planning and scheduling within major capital projects, infrastructure, construction, engineering, energy, rail, utilities or a related sector\nAdvanced proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6, including the development and maintenance of work breakdown structures, logic-linked activities, milestones, constraints and baselines\nStrong understanding of project lifecycle delivery, critical-path analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, schedule optimisation and change control\nAbility to integrate schedules across multiple disciplines, contractors and suppliers and to assess schedule impacts arising from changes and variations\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail, data quality and the reliability of forecasts\nExperience producing clear planning reports, look-ahead programmes, schedule variance analysis, dashboards and KPI information\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to communicate schedule information clearly through reports and presentations\nEffective communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to facilitate planning meetings and constructively challenge assumptions\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines\nDegree or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction management, project management, business or a related discipline\nAPM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent professional qualification or accreditation\nExperience of resource - or cost-loaded scheduling, earned value management and schedule risk assessment\nDesirable:\nExperience of resource- or cost-loaded scheduling, earned value management and schedule risk assessment\nFamiliarity with Power BI, Microsoft Project, SAP or other project-controls tools\nIf you meet 80% or more of what we’re looking for, please still apply.
