Working in a supportive and multi-disciplined environment, you’ll contribute to exciting projects delivering high-quality work for clients in the UK and Ireland such as East West Rail, Northern Powerhouse Rail, Network Rail, Irish Rail and many others.\nWe are looking for an experienced Track (Permanent Way) Engineer with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant track design experience.\nYou should have excellent knowledge, understanding and experience of:\nPlain line and S&C design.\n\nGauging principles.\n\nTrack materials and componentry.\n\nIt would be advantageous to have knowledge, understanding and experience of:\nTrack drainage.\n\n3D modelling of track designs.\n\nUK health and safety requirements, standards and design acceptance and assurance in relation to construction and railways.\n\nSurveying techniques in a railway environment.\n\nYou will also promote Mott MacDonald’s health, safety, and well-being policies, and support the delivery of design outputs that meet the quality standards and requirements set out in our Business Management System (BMS).\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. The projects will largely bemulti-disciplinary in nature and vary throughout the project lifecycle.\nThe role is varied and responsibilities include,but not limited to:\nInputting into all stages of track projects from conception through to completion, ensuring client specifications, budgets, and timelines are met.\n\nProviding technical excellence in track design, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.\n\nWorking towards becoming a technical expert, pioneering the development and application of advanced engineering concepts and strategies to address unique challenges.\n\nSeeking innovative solutions in the design and implementation of various projects.\n\nPreserving the team's culture and fostering a positive working environment.\n\nCollaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives to develop design solutions that meet client requirements, regulatory standards and comply with industry standards and safety regulations.\n\nEnsuring all work is carried out in accordance with Mott MacDonald's quality standard procedures.\n\nMaintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and new technologies.\n\nContributingto the successful performance of the existing Track team around the UK and Ireland.\n\nProvidingtechnical guidance for graduates and/or apprentices.\n\nCandidate Specification\nWe are looking for a flexible and motivated professional with a genuine passion and a desire to make a difference in the world.\nAcademic, professional qualifications and experience:\nDegree qualified in Civil Engineering.\n\nIdeally a professional member of a relevant institution (e.g. chartered or incorporated engineer with RailEI, IET, IMechE, ICE or INCOSE).\n\nEssential Skills and Experience:\nHighly proficient at track alignment design.\n\nFocus on safety and safe by design.\n\nProficient with OpenRailand MicroStation packages.\n\nFamiliarity with BIM and common data environment platforms such as Bentley ProjectWise.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nEffective time management and strong organisational skills.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills supporting collaborative working with colleagues.\n\nProblem-solving attitude with a high levelof responsibility for assigned tasks and projects.\n\nProfessional and respectful approach towards others.\n\nDesirable Competencies / Skills:\nDemonstrate rounded track design experience covering a wide range of interfaces, e.g. formation design, interface with structures, stressing design, drainage design etc\n\nDemonstrate an understanding of Railway Group Standards and UK Company Specific Standards, e.gNetwork Rail/LUL including Project assurance requirements\n\nExperience in liaising with clients, co-professionals, and design teams.\n\nExperience in delivery within time and cost constraints.\n\nExperience of working with UK railways clients such as Network Rail.\n\nWorking towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status of a recognised professional institution would be an advantage.\n\nAble to scope and manage gauging survey and analysis from ClearRoute(or D/Gauge Rift).\n\nProficient with Autodesk products including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.\n\nFlexible working\nAt Mott MacDonald, we support our staff to create work-life balance which works for them and welcome candidates looking for career flexibility.
