Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle - from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.\nOverview of the role\nOur Energy Unit's Transmission & Distribution division is growing its Power Systems team and is looking for a Power Systems Engineer to support the delivery of a wide range of power system studies associated with the energy transition.\nYou will work on projects involving renewable generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and distribution networks, and grid connection studies. Working alongside experienced specialists, you will contribute to technical analysis, modelling, study delivery and engineering assessments for projects in the UK and internationally.\nThis role offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your technical capabilities while working on some of the most significant energy infrastructure projects currently being developed.\nKey responsibilities and duties include:\nSupport the delivery of power system studies for transmission and distribution networks\nDevelop and maintain power system models using industry standard software tools\nContribute to studies relating to:Load flow analysis\nShort circuit studies\nProtection coordination\nDynamic and transient stability assessments\nGrid connection and compliance studies\nPower quality assessments\n\nAnalyse data and study outputs, helping to identify practical engineering solutions\nPrepare technical calculations, reports and engineering documentation\nWork collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across energy projects\nEngage with clients, network operators and project stakeholders where required\nSupport the continuous improvement of modelling approaches, analysis techniques and engineering standards\nKeep up to date with developments in power systems, renewable technologies and industry regulations\nCandidate specification\nEssential:\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline\nUnderstanding of power system engineering principles and electricity networks\nFamiliarity with power system analysis and modelling techniques\nKnowledge of transmission and distribution systems\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nGood written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to work effectively both independently and within project teams\nA desire to continue developing technical knowledge and professional skills within the power systems field\nDesirable:\nExperience using power system analysis software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E or similar packages\nExposure to renewable energy, battery storage, HVDC, generation or grid connection projects\nUnderstanding of UK Grid Code requirements and power system standards\nProgress towards professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering institution\nWe are actively recruiting a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve.
