The sustained, robust business performance creates an ideal environment for career growth.\nWe have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, this will see MMB tackle projects across the DCC region covering both clean and wastewater treatment sites, as well as below ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions.\nAfter securing our first framework with DCC at the beginning of AMP6, our presence in Wales has grown significantly, directly employing over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles, from frontline construction to design and management positions.\nYou will work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.\nYou will play a pivotal role in shaping the structural functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all civil aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.\nAs a Structural Engineer your responsibilities will include:\nPreparing and reviewing designs for schemes and ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.\n\nPreparing detailed structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.\n\nConducting site inspections and assessing existing structures for repair and/or replacement\n\nProducing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.\n\nUnderstanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of Client and industry standards.\n\nBe able to appropriately challenge Client specifications and present and defend solutions to complex problems.\n\nIdentifying opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.\n\nActing as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.\n\nManaging the interfaces and integration of the design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation.\n\nAble to actively seek input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit for purpose solutions.\n\nWorking closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.\n\nSupervising and mentoring our Graduates and Engineers assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.\n\nPositively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims.\n\nUndertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems.\n\nCandidate requirements:\nDegree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or related field.\n\nChartered member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience.\n\nExperience with water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.\n\nKnowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g. Eurocodes, British Standards)\n\nProficient in structural analysis software (e.g. Staad Pro, ETABS, SAP2000)\n\nExperience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.\n\nAbility to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.\n\nMethodical approach to problem solving.\n\nA proactive and pragmatic approach.\n\nProficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing your time efficiently.\n\nA valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.\n\nWhat’s in it for you:\nFinancial wellbeing\nMMB match employee pension contributions between 4.5% and 7%. \nAs an independently owned business we share the financial success of the business with all our colleagues including our annual bonus schemes. \nPayment of annual professional institution subscription costs. \nHealth and wellbeing\nA minimum of 33 days holiday each year, inclusive of public holidays, with the ability to buy, sell or carry over annual leave through our flexible benefits programme. \nAccess to Life Assurance / Private Medical Insurance / Critical Illness Insurance and Health Screening options. \nWe are happy to talk openly about flexible working and how we can support your responsibilities beyond the workplace. \nJoin a wide range of groups including our Advanced Employee Networks which support our LGBTQ+, gender, race and ethnicity, disability, and parents/carers communities. \nEnhanced family and carers leave\nEnhanced family leave policies, including 26 weeks paid maternity and adoption leave, and two weeks paid paternity/partner leave plus the option for shared parental leave. \nUp to 2 paid additional days leave are provided for those with significant caring responsibilities. \nLearning and development\nMMB are committed to empowering our people to grow professionally and thrive in their careers.
