Let’s explore how we can support your growth and help you take the next step in your career, while contributing to an exciting new chapter for Mott MacDonald in North America.\nWe are seeking a Principal Bridge Engineer in our Boston, MA or Westwood, MA office to lead our dedicated and talented professionals across a broad range of infrastructure and transportation projects.\nJob Duties Includes but not limited to;\nAct as discipline task lead and coordinate with staff to ensure ongoing communication, project progress and quality deliverables \nSupervise staff and participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others. \nPrime lead in developing resource estimates and budgets along with project schedules. \nProvide senior technical leadership for the planning and design of bridge and ancillary structures, overseeing structural systems, foundations, constructability, inspection and staging considerations, and coordination of maintenance and protection of traffic, drainage, and roadway interfaces. \nResearch and develop feasible designs to meet client needs and regulatory requirements. \nPerform structural engineering analysis and calculations for bridge systems, including superstructures, substructures, bearings, and foundations. \nUnderstand and analyze the results of preliminary studies such as traffic and environmental impacts and develop feasible concepts to resolve issues. \nEnsure that bridge designs comply with state and federal standards, particularly those of transportation agencies such as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, Connecticut Department of Transportation, and relevant regulatory agencies. \nCollaborate with the design team to develop detailed design documents for milestone submittals such as preliminary design, Advance Detail Plans, Environmental permitting, Right-of-Way Plans PSE and construction plans \nMeet project deliverable schedules and budgets for assigned projects \nMonitor resource budgets and schedules for assigned tasks/projects \nAssist project managers in monthly reporting \nUnderstand the Mott MacDonald resource/skill network to ensure assignments and portions of the project design are being developed by the correct resources. \nSupport marketing and business development initiatives \nEngage with clients, ensuring excellent and professional interactions \nOversee the development of bridge projects in OpenBridge along with other automated/digital design tools. \nIndependently evaluate, compile, and compute a variety of engineering data \nBe current on transportation agencies efforts to employ digital delivery. \nOversee the training and mentorship of junior staff \nMust have the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously \nQualifications:\nA BS degree in civil engineering. \n15+ years of experience in bridge design and design management, including bridge superstructures, substructures, bearings, and foundations. \nA Massachusetts PE license or ability to obtain \nProven experience in leading diverse teams, managing resources, and projects \nStrong communication skills, both written and oral \nFamiliarity with Federal Highway Administration and Massachusetts Department of Transportation \nExperience with MicroStation and Open Bridge; AutoCAD and Civil 3D, P(6) scheduling tools, drainage design. \nHigh quality interpersonal skills, including organizational and attention to detail. \nBenefits & Reward\nAt Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.
