The research will focus on understanding kidney injury, inflammation, and repair, as well as testing innovative approaches to improve organ preservation and viability.\nThe successful candidate will design and conduct experiments involving machine-perfused human kidneys, analyze tissue and perfusate samples, and apply molecular, cellular, and histological techniques. The position offers opportunities to develop independent research projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to high-impact scientific publications.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nDesign, coordinate, and conduct ex vivo normothermic machine perfusion experiments using human donor kidneys.\n\nDevelop and test therapeutic interventions aimed at improving kidney function, reducing injury, and enhancing organ preservation.\n\nCollect and analyze kidney tissue, perfusate, and other biological samples using molecular, cellular, and histological techniques.\n\nPerform and optimize laboratory assays, including ELISA, Western blot, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and other relevant approaches.\n\nAnalyze and interpret experimental data, including kidney functional parameters, injury biomarkers, and molecular signatures.\n\nDevelop independent research hypotheses and contribute to experimental design and troubleshooting.\n\nPrepare scientific manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and research reports.\n\nCollaborate with investigators, transplant clinicians, and other research team members on multidisciplinary projects.\n\nMentor junior laboratory members and contribute to maintaining laboratory equipment, protocols, and research resources.\n\nContribute to grant applications and the development of new research initiatives.\n\nPerform other research-related duties as assigned.\n\n Educational and other Requirements for the position: MD or PhD\nExperience Required: Experience handling human samples and/or mice\nGoals/Outcomes of the Research Project: To define the alloimmune responses in transplant recipients\nCompensation Statement\nThe Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
