The Desktop integrations team is a cross-functional team that focuses on updates, installs and integrating Firefox with different OS platforms. As part of the Desktop Integrations team, you will be responsible for all things related to OS integration (particularly Windows and macOS) and helping us grow our user base. \nOur team is geographically distributed, and working in the open is the norm. We contribute to the code driving the Firefox browser on all desktop platforms.\nAbout the role: \nA Software Engineer is an early-career individual contributor who is growing in their ability to take on more complex tasks. At Mozilla, this role involves working on engineering projects that typically span several weeks and require collaboration with peers. Software Engineers at this level contribute to implementation, ask thoughtful questions, and raise blockers early. They communicate clearly within their team, follow team processes, and steadily build expertise in their domain.\nWhat you’ll do:\nAssist in the development and maintenance of Firefox features related to installs, updates, and OS integrations.\nWork on improvements to the Firefox installation and update process with guidance from senior engineers.\nSupport efforts to solve platform-specific challenges on Windows and/or macOS, particularly where Firefox must interact directly with the operating system.\nCollaborate with your manager and teammates to define and scope tasks, with regular check-ins to share progress and ask for support when needed.\nParticipate in code reviews to grow your understanding and contribute to a high-quality codebase.\nHelp identify and fix bugs that improve the Firefox experience for our global user base.\nEngage with a distributed team and contribute positively to our open and inclusive work environment.\n\nWhat you’ll bring: \nSome experience with systems-level programming on a major platform (e.g., Windows, macOS).\nProficiency with C/C++ programming.\nWillingness to communicate clearly, ask questions, and seek feedback.\nAbility to contribute to collaborative projects and steadily build up your technical and problem-solving skills.\nA growth mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to impactful software.\nBonus Points\nExposure to or experience with Rust.\nFamiliarity with Linux, or macOS internals.\nExposure to or familiarity with native Windows or macOS APIs (such as Win32 or Cocoa) \nPrevious participation in open source projects or a strong interest in learning how to contribute.\nWe value a variety of voices within our team and at Mozilla.
