MP Materials is a US rare earth producer headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, that mines and refines rare earth materials and manufactures permanent magnets. It owns the Mountain Pass mine and processing facility in California, acquired in 2017 when the site was idle, makes magnets at its Independence facility in Fort Worth, Texas, and is building a second Texas magnet plant; its shares trade on the NYSE. Hiring is concentrated in Fort Worth and covers magnetics, process, controls and electrical engineers, laboratory analysts, prototyping technicians, EHS specialists and procurement and finance staff.

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain-from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves-enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI-the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer-and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

MP Materials is seeking a hands-on Industrial Mechanic to be an integral part of maintaining and operating a new metal, alloy, and magnet-making facility in Fort Worth, Texas. This is a rare opportunity to have a vital role in the development of a greenfield advanced manufacturing facility and helping to define the future of American manufacturing. The facility contains a broad range of chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal processes, including high temperature chemistry, handling of molten metals, powder metallurgy, machining, and assembly. The Industrial Mechanic reports to our Facilities and Maintenance Manager.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address maintenance issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and stay current with industry advancements.
  • Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs as needed.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to all safety protocols.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
