This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving business problems through technology and wants the opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly expanding organization.\nThe successful candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with business stakeholders, product owners, client technical teams, and partner developers to build scalable, secure, and maintainable applications. Initial work will focus on our ClassWallet engagement, which supports education savings account (ESA) and scholarship programs in multiple states, where payments, data accuracy, and security matter.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and deploy web-based applications and services. \nBuild and maintain front-end and back-end components of software solutions. \nDevelop and maintain APIs and integrations with client and third-party systems. \nParticipate in application architecture and technical design discussions. \nWrite unit and integration tests and help maintain overall code quality. \nTroubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes. \nCollaborate with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and refine business requirements. \nProvide realistic estimates and clear status updates on assigned work. \nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. \nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices. \nFollow secure coding practices and protect sensitive client, financial, and personal data. \nSupport cloud-hosted applications, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes. \nCoordinate with partner and contract developers working on shared projects. \nEvaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate. \nAssist with AI and automation initiatives as business needs evolve. \nContribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing. \nTrack and submit time as required by Mpathic and client billing requirements. \nPerform other related duties as assigned. \nRequirements\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. \n5-10 years of professional software development experience. \nExperience developing full-stack web applications in a production environment. \nStrong proficiency in at least one modern back-end technology, such as: \n.NET / C# \nNode.js \nJava \nPython \nExperience with modern front-end frameworks, such as: \nReact \nAngular \nVue.js \nExperience developing and consuming RESTful APIs. \nExperience with SQL and relational database design. \nProficiency with Git or similar source control. \nExperience working in Agile or Scrum development environments. \nUnderstanding of application security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, data protection). \nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical audiences. \nReliable high-speed internet and a secure, distraction-free remote workspace. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud services. \nExperience with fintech, payments, education technology, or government-funded programs. \nExperience with AI, machine learning, or large language model (LLM) integrations. \nExperience building automation workflows and system integrations. \nExperience with containerization technologies such as Docker. \nKnowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. \nFamiliarity with data privacy and compliance standards (e.g., PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, FERPA). \nExperience working in startup, consulting, or fast-growth environments. \nEligibility & Employment Requirements\nMust be at least 18 years of age and reside in the United States. \nMust be able to provide proof of eligibility to legally work in the United States. \nMust be willing and able to clear all required background checks as a condition of employment.\nMpathic is an equal opportunity employer.
