Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and evaluate packaging solutions for specialized equipment, components, and materials.\nPrepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.\nEvaluate packaging requirements for safe handling, storage, lifting, and transportation.\nPerform engineering assessments to ensure packaging designs meet structural, mechanical, and operational requirements.\nSupport the selection of packaging materials, containers, protective systems, and handling equipment.\nEnsure packaging activities comply with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance requirements.\nCoordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and project teams to resolve packaging-related technical issues.\nSupport packaging inspections, testing, qualification activities, and design modifications.\nDevelop and maintain packaging procedures, technical reports, and supporting documentation.\nIdentify opportunities to improve packaging efficiency, safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nExperience in mechanical engineering, packaging design, equipment design, or a related technical field.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nFamiliarity with engineering design principles, material selection, and structural or mechanical evaluations.\nKnowledge of applicable safety practices, quality assurance requirements, and engineering standards.\nProficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.\n Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent active federal security clearance (such as DoD Top Secret) required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting DOE, NNSA, NRC-regulated, nuclear, or other highly regulated industrial facilities.\nExperience with specialized packaging, transportation systems, or material handling equipment.\nFamiliarity with DOT, NRC, or DOE packaging and transportation requirements.\nKnowledge of ASME standards and NQA-1 quality assurance requirements.\nExperience performing structural, thermal, or mechanical engineering calculations.\nExperience supporting manufacturing, fabrication, inspection, or testing activities.\nFamiliarity with radioactive material packaging and transportation requirements, including 10 CFR 71 and applicable portions of 49 CFR.\nBenefits:\nAll eligible employees enjoy an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/vision insurance, short/long-term disability, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off including holidays, and tuition reimbursement.\nEEO Statement:\nMSTI is an equal-opportunity employer.
