We're genuine co-owners, and this ESOP setup promotes a culture of collaboration and engagement throughout MSA because we all have a direct financial interest as owners.\" -- Project Engineer Transportation, Cedar Rapids Office\nResponsibilities\nMechanical & Plumbing Design\nLead the design and development of mechanical and plumbing systems from planning through construction\nPerform and review engineering calculations, studies, reports, design documentation, and construction documents\nDevelop construction specifications, cost estimates, and schedules with a focus on accuracy and constructability\nUse Microsoft Office, CADD, BIM, and modeling or analysis tools to produce clear, coordinated design deliverables\nProject Delivery & Quality\nManage assigned technical tasks with minimal oversight while monitoring scope, schedule, and budget\nCoordinate deliverables with internal teams, external partners, clients, and technical support staff\nReview work completed by junior engineers, designers, and technicians for quality, consistency, and alignment with project goals\nSupport QA/QC processes and take ownership of technical accuracy across assigned project components\nField & Construction Support\nConduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations to verify existing conditions and support project design\nReview construction progress, document observations, and help resolve technical challenges in the field\nConfirm that work aligns with plans, specifications, design intent, and applicable standards\nClient & Team Collaboration\nServe as a client contact for assigned tasks or projects, communicating updates with professionalism and sound judgment\nLead or co-lead project meetings related to technical updates, deliverables, schedules, and project needs\nMaintain consistent communication with Project Managers and Team Leaders regarding workload, budgets, schedules, and staffing needs\nMentor junior staff by reviewing work, providing feedback, and supporting their professional growth\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline\nExperience\n4+ years of relevant post-graduate engineering experience\nExperience in mechanical or plumbing design preferred\nExperience supporting building and infrastructure projects preferred\nLicensure\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Florida required\nMulti-state licensure may be beneficial depending on project assignments\nSkills\nStrong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and practices related to mechanical and/or plumbing design\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, CADD, BIM, and relevant modeling or analysis software\nStrong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to lead project components, coordinate multidisciplinary work, and integrate input from multiple stakeholders\nStrong organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple project demands\nAbility to monitor scope, schedule, and budget and proactively identify project needs or concerns\nEffective mentoring skills and a commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement\nWork Authorization\nThe selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
