This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams, managing mechanical engineering projects while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule performance.\nThis position is for a hybrid or onsite role in our Des Moines or Cedar Rapids IA office.\nResponsibilities\nProject Management & Delivery\nLead mechanical engineering projects through pursuit, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout\nDevelop project management plans, work breakdown structures, and schedules\nOversee project team performance and ensure quality deliverables\nClient & Business Development\nServe as primary point of contact for clients\nSupport proposal development, scoping, and contract preparation\nCommunicate with clients on budgets, schedules, and project updates\nIdentify opportunities for additional services and project growth\nTechnical & Team Leadership\nCoordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners\nReview technical work and ensure documentation quality\nMentor junior staff and contribute to team development\nCollaborate with leadership on project strategy and delivery\nFinancial & Operational Management\nMonitor budgets, manage scope changes, and pursue amendments when needed\nReview and issue invoices; ensure timely client payment\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field\n6+ years of project management or mechanical engineering experience\nProven experience managing engineering projects, budgets, and schedules\nStrong knowledge of project management principles and best practices\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)\nStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills\nPreferred\n Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa.\nExperience with HVAC systems, building systems, or industrial mechanical design\nProject management certification (PMP, PSMJ, EMI, or equivalent)\nExperience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams\nWhy MSA\nAt MSA, our people are our greatest asset.
