We operate as a software engineering team whose customers are other engineers - we build internal products, APIs, automation and integrations, and we run them as products with roadmaps, users and service commitments.\nWe own and maintain several Developer tools in MSCI's developer toolchain end to end. That covers the tools engineers work in every day, including GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, SonarQube and Cursor, as well as the platforms we build and run ourselves such as our Backstage-based internal developer portal. Ownership here means we select, integrate, secure, operate and continuously improve these services, and we are accountable for their availability, and adoption across the firm.\nAlongside the tools, we enable standardisation across the software development lifecycle. We define the golden paths, reusable CI/CD workflows, platform abstractions, engineering standards and governance models that product and engineering teams adopt so they can move quickly without re-solving the same problems.\nAs part of the MSCI Core DevOps Engineering team, you will help shape where software delivery and developer enablement go next across the organisation.\nWhat the team owns\nDeveloper tooling: GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Docker, Cursor \nInternal developer platforms: Backstage-based developer portal and our in-house developer productivity platform\nCI/CD platforms, reusable pipelines and release automation\nSDLC standards, golden paths and governance models\nSelf-service capabilities, internal APIs and integrations that remove manual toil from engineering teams\nDeveloper experience measurement, adoption and the services we provide to engineering teams across MSCI\nYour Key Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain reusable CI/CD frameworks, GitHub Actions workflows, templates, and platform abstractions that make the golden paths the fastest way to ship software at MSCI - simple enough to adopt quickly, flexible enough for diverse engineering use cases.\nDevelop and support internal platform capabilities, APIs, automation services, and integrations across the developer toolchain, including GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Cursor, Backstage, and our in-house developer productivity platform.\nRun the developer tooling estate as a product: monitor health and usage, resolve issues, manage upgrades and configuration, and improve the reliability of services engineers depend on daily.\nApply proactive problem solving to developer pain points - find friction in engineering workflows before it is escalated, trace issues to root cause, and deliver durable fixes rather than workarounds.\nBring intellectual curiosity and a critical thinking mindset to platform decisions: evaluate new tools, patterns, and approaches on their merits, and make evidence-based recommendations that raise the quality of what we deliver to our developers.\nContribute to SDLC standardization initiatives and engineering best practices, translating agreed standards into working automation, templates, and controls.\nPartner with Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, Risk, and Application Engineering teams to embed governance, compliance, and operational controls directly into engineering workflows and platform capabilities.\nTreat engineering teams as customers: gather feedback, document and support what you build.\nYour skills and experience that will help you excel\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\nHands on Programming experience in Go or Java.\nExperience in Platform Engineering, DevOps Engineering, or related software engineering roles.\nSoftware engineering mindset, with hands-on experience building automation, APIs, internal tooling, or reusable workflows that other engineers depend on.\nSolid working experience with SCM and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub (preferred), Azure DevOps, and/or GitLab, including repositories, pipelines, reusable workflows and templates, permissions, and integrations.\nGood understanding of the SDLC and software delivery workflows, including source control governance, branching strategies, release processes, and developer enablement practices.\nExperience building and consuming REST APIs and webhooks.\nStrong collaboration and communication skills\nOperational mindset, with experience supporting tooling or services that other teams rely on in production.\nIntellectual curiosity and critical thinking - willingness to dig into unfamiliar problems, question how things work today, and evidence a better way.\nNice to Have\nExposure to an internal developer platform or portal (Backstage or equivalent).\nExperience building self-service engineering workflows or developer enablement tooling.\nExperience with platform observability, engineering metrics, or developer productivity initiatives.\nExposure to GitOps frameworks.\nExperience in GitHub Enterprise Platform & Services \nFamiliarity with frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript for platform UI and tooling development.\nAgentic SDLC experience and AI-native development.\nAbout MSCI\nWhat we offer you\nTransparent compensation schemes and comprehensive employee benefits, tailored to your location, ensuring your financial security, health, and overall wellbeing.\nFlexible working arrangements, advanced technology, and collaborative workspaces.\nA culture of high performance and innovation where we experiment with new ideas and take responsibility for achieving results.\nA global network of talented colleagues, who inspire, support, and share their expertise to innovate and deliver for our clients.\nGlobal Orientation program to kickstart your journey, followed by access to our Learning@MSCI platform, AI Learning Center , LinkedIn Learning Pro and tailored learning opportunities for ongoing skills development.\nMulti-directional career paths that offer professional growth and development through new challenges, internal mobility and expanded roles.\nWe actively nurture an environment that builds a sense of inclusion belonging and connection, including eight Employee Resource Groups.
