You will also help build capability across the team through quality assurance, peer review and mentoring.\nA significant part of the role involves strengthening disability data across the wider data system. You will coordinate key disability data advisory groups and the community of practice, and work with government agencies, the disability community, researchers and other partners to improve the quality and use of disability data.\nKey responsibilities include:\nLead quantitative and qualitative analytical work and integrate evidence from a range of sources to develop insights and advice.\nSource, analyse and visualise data using analytical methods and tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL and R.\nDesign and deliver high-quality data products, dashboards, reports, briefings and other analytical outputs for technical and non-technical audiences.\nProvide technical leadership, quality assurance and peer review, and coach and mentor analysts and other kaimahi.\nStrengthen disability data across Whaikaha and the wider data system by contributing to cross-government initiatives and work to address disability data gaps.\nCoordinate key disability data advisory groups and community of practice, including facilitating discussions and building strong relationships with members.\nLead substantial projects and contribute analytical and technical expertise to priority work programmes across Whaikaha.\nMōu | About You\nTo undertake this role successfully, you will either be a disabled person, tāngata whaikaha Māori, have lived experience as whānau, or be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community.\nYou will bring:\nStrong quantitative analytical capability and experience working with complex data from a range of sources, alongside experience using qualitative evidence.\nAdvanced experience using analytical and visualisation tools such as R, SQL, Power BI and Excel.\nExperience leading complex analytical work, exercising sound judgement and turning evidence into clear, accessible insights and advice for a range of audiences.\nStrong relationship management, facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively across organisational boundaries.\nExperience providing peer review and quality assurance and coaching and mentoring others to build analytical capability.\nKnowledge of the disability data system and wider social-sector data environment, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.\nExperience with, or knowledge of, Stats NZ’s Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) is desirable but not essential.\nHe Whakaahuatanga Tūnga | Position Description\nThe full position description and application process of this advertisement can be found here.\nSalary | Utu-ā-tau: $103,767 - $125,899\nKa Kati Ngā Tono hei te | Applications Close\nApplication close 11.59pm 8 November 2026.\nMe pēhea te tuku tono | How to Apply\nClick the 'Apply' button to complete the online form, or let’s kōrero about what you need to feel supported in your application.
