This role requires a deep understanding of various backup technologies and tools, as well as advanced scripting knowledge and data protection strategies across cloud platforms.\n\nThis position is based in our Hyderabad location, and we follow a hybrid work policy.\n\nWhat Will You Do In This Role\n\nWe are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection (Backup and Recovery) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, developing, implementing, and managing backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability. This role requires a deep understanding of various backup technologies and tools, as well as advanced scripting knowledge and data protection strategies across cloud platforms.\n\nWhat Should You Have\n\nDesign, develop, and maintain advanced backup and recovery solutions using tools such as Cohesity, AWS Backup, Azure backups, Commvault.\nDevelop and implement automated solutions for backup and recovery processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention (preferably python, Ansible, PS, GitHub Actions)\nDevelop and manage self-service features for customers to facilitate their own backup and recovery tasks, improving user experience and operational efficiency (API based using python, Ansible, PS, GitHub Actions)\nExperience in Agile ways of working and sprint ceremonies\nLead the optimisation of backup processes, ensuring data is backed up and available for recovery according to established schedules and policies\nProactively troubleshoot complex backup and recovery operational blockers, addressing issues proactively and providing expert guidance\nEnable and lead problem investigation for unknown root cause situations and ensure proper corrective and preventive actions are performed.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive data protection strategies\nConduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure effectiveness, reliability, and compliance with industry standards\nwork with product manager to define the product roadmap and own/run/participate in agile ceremonies\nMaintain detailed documentation of backup configurations, processes, and procedures\nStay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to data protection and recovery, and provide thought leadership within the organization.\n\nEducation \n\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field\nRelevant certifications (e.g., Cohesity certified expert, AWS Certifications,) are highly desirable\n\nExperience\n\nMinimum of 5-7 years of experience in backup and recovery engineering or a related field, with a focus on senior-level responsibilities\nProven experience with backup solutions such as Cohesity, AWS backups, Azure backups, PPDM, RMAN, BRTools and familiarity with Commvault, Rubrik, and others\nExtensive experience with CI/CD, automation tools specifically Ansible Tower, GitHub actions for backup and recovery processes\nExtensive experience in creating scrips preferably suing python, PS and API based automations via Ansible, GitHub Actions\nExperience with agile Frameworks using tools like Jira, Confluence as primary trackers for development, testing and deployment\nExperience with scalable architectures for backup storage\nExperience with Data Protection as a Service (DPaaS) solutions\nHands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS and Azure, for backup and recovery solutions\nIn-depth experience with Dell Data Domain storage systems\n\nSkills\n\nStrong understanding of backup and recovery methodologies and best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex scenarios\nExpert level proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to enhance backup processes and develop automated solutions\nAdvanced knowledge of API based platforms, building automations via API to deliver services to customers\nKnowledge on developing and using agentic AI use cases for data protection and recovery situations\nAdvanced knowledge of storage technologies and architectures\nFamiliarity with self-service portal tools and frameworks for customer interaction\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues\nStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders\nExtensive experience with disaster recovery planning and execution\nExperience with different operating systems (e.g., windows servers, RHEL) and container solutions (e.g., Kubernetes)\nFamiliarity with cloud-based backup solutions and hybrid environments\nStrong analytical skills to assess backup performance and identify areas for improvement\nExperience with storage systems (SAN, NAS, cloud ontap).\n\nWho we are\n\nWe are in the United state Rahway, New Jersey, USA in the United States and Canada everywhere else.
