The successful candidate will bring five to seven years of property and casualty insurance accounting experience, including working knowledge of U.S. NAIC statutory accounting principles and U.S. GAAP. Experience with IFRS is a plus. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, Investments, Actuarial, Operations, FP&A, and other business functions.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and financial statement support.\nPrepare and review quarterly consolidation-related journal entries, including goodwill and intangible asset amortization, deferred salary allocations, and other corporate accounting adjustments. Partner with Finance, Premium Accounting, Reinsurance, Actuarial, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.\nMonitor intercompany balances and eliminations across the insurance group and resolve out-of-balance conditions prior to close and consolidation.\nCalculate and record noncontrolling interest activity.\nPrepare and review equity method accounting and equity pickup entries for parent and affiliated entities.\nPrepare standalone financial statements for holding companies, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Statement of Shareholders’ Equity.\nPrepare and record manual journal entries for as needed for premiums, commissions, losses, IBNR, and reinsurance transactions within the general ledger.\nSupport operational accounting processes involving premiums, claims, reserves, commissions, receivables, payables, and intercompany transactions, as assigned.\nAssist with statutory financial statements, regulatory schedules, management reporting, and supporting documentation.\nAnalyze general ledger balances and resolve differences among the general ledger, accounting records, custodial statements, and other source systems.\nPartner with Investment, Treasury, Actuarial, Tax, Reinsurance, and insurance operations teams to ensure complete and accurate accounting for business activity.\nAssist with internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and requests for supporting documentation.\nMaintain effective internal controls and contribute to process improvements, automation, documentation, and data-quality initiatives.\nResearch accounting issues and help assess the impact of new statutory, U.S. GAAP, and, where applicable, IFRS guidance.\nFor newly acquired or incorporated entities, work with Controller to build out subsidiary reporting processes and incorporate new companies into the group consolidation process. \nPerform ad hoc analyses and participate in Finance projects and system implementations.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nFive to seven years of accounting experience within the insurance industry, preferably in property and casualty \nExperience applying U.S. NAIC statutory accounting principles (yellow books) and U.S. GAAP.\nInsurance accounting experience, including reconciliations, close activities, and financial or regulatory reporting.\nUnderstanding of insurance operations and the flow of transactions from source systems to the general ledger and financial statements for direct, assumed, and ceded business.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to detail.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with colleagues at different levels of the organization.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with general ledger, or financial reporting systems.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with IFRS reporting or reconciliation between IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and statutory bases of accounting.\nExperience with accounting platforms, data tools, financial reporting applications, and Microsoft Copilot.\nKnowledge of internal control frameworks and experience supporting audits or regulatory examinations.\nExperience with managing general agent (MGA) accounting.\nExperience in a multi-entity or international insurance organization including foreign exchange.\nExperience with working with offshore staff.\nCPA designation or progress toward CPA certifications\n\nSalary: The base pay range is $170,000.00 - 195,000.00 per year.
