The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in the financial services industry, a solid understanding of mobile security best practices, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and maintain Android applications for banking and financial services using Java and Kotlin.\nCollaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality mobile solutions.\nImplement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with banking regulations and standards.\nDevelop and maintain automated tests to ensure application reliability and performance.\nTroubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on root cause analysis.\nWork autonomously, managing tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nMentor junior developers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.\nStay current with Android development trends, tools, and best practices.\nUnderstand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.\nPromote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.\nMaintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.\nComplete other related duties as assigned.\nEducation and Experience Required:\nAssociate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ Android application development work experience. In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ systems Android development work experience\nAdvanced proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin\nExperience working in banking, fintech, or other regulated industries.\nSolid understanding of Android architecture components and design patterns.\nExperience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Espresso, JUnit, Mockito).\nFamiliarity with secure mobile development practices (e.g., encryption, secure storage, biometric authentication).\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\nEducation and Experience Preferred:\nExperience with Jetpack Compose.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nKnowledge of accessibility and compliance standards (e.g., ADA, WCAG).\nExperience integrating with banking APIs and third-party financial services.\nPublished apps in the Google Play Store.\n#LI-JB3 #Hybrid\nM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
